Well lads, (and lassies), be very careful not to have an office affair on the xerox copier, or copy your private ''details'' after a drunken escapade ;) Interestingly the conspiracy theorists picked this up as a potential new world order threat. Link to article.

*Shudders to think what the boss will find tommorow morning on our swanky new photocopier* :pac:

How is this news? Pretty much all copiers store this type of data, including usernames etc.

    I thought everyone knew this...

    We're off the grid man.

The photocopier at work laughs at me.

I can hear him out in the corridor with the laserjet taking the piss out of me :(

If you don't have the source + firmware specs, it could be shagging your wife at night without you knowing. The NSA have backdoors, I swear!

I still use one of those Mimeographs with the purple print and the big windy handle, like they had when I was in primary school. I use it to peddle my irrefutable thruth about the illuminati. It keeps my secrets, like telling nobody I wear my tinfoil hat while I wind the handle....you can't be too careful....

It just sits there in the background. I do have to keep an eye on it.

    PROVEN conspiracies.

The yellow dots on the back of a page when you use a colour laser or colour photocopier can identify when and where the page was printed. So they can track you down.

Toner cartridges with scanners built in, so an electroinic copy of every document printed could be read when the cartridge was recycle.

Same trick for on site shredding. They were recording documents as they were supposedly destroying them.

Oh yeah any big copier these days will have a hard drive, so those naughty things you photocopied at the office party are probably recoverable off the drive.

    Hmmmmm ?

Does that mean that the scan of a wide minge, fat arse and greasy hole that showed up on my copier could be traced to Mary in Import / Export ?.

Does it track the DNA of any sweat or body fluids that might be "accidentally" deposited ?

Now where's that fcukin Cillit Bang !

This is old news from last year.

I reckon it's more to do with saving money than spying.
Modern scanner/photocopier/printer devices are built to be shared on the network and queue up all the jobs they have to perform.

Rather than use expensive RAM memory, they just threw in a cheap hard disk which would also be more scalable, letting it
queue up a load of peoples jobs.

They just should've encrypted it, or securely wiped the jobs (your printed documents) after they were printed.
Or had some form of "purging" scheduled job to clean the old stuff off.

Do people really have office parties in the office?

We always go to a pub or restaurant....

Along with any non work-related stuff you did on company time.
