Hi, I am 8 months pregnant and have an interview this week. Thing is, I think I have tops that are formal enough for an interview but only have maternity jeans. This is all I have that will fit at the moment and dont want or cant afford to go out and buy new maternity trousers for the sake of wearing them maybe once........would nice dark maternity jeans with a dressy top do for an interview.......would the interviewers understand my position?!

If you want to have the best possible opportunity in succeeding in an interview then you need to invest in yourself and how you present yourself and your skills/abilities. Turning up in jeans (no matter how smart they look) would be the same as handing in a CV in neat handwriting (unacceptable) vs a typed and printed CV. I'm not familiar with women's maternity clothes but surely Dunnes or Penneys can offer affordable maternity trousers that won't cost an arm even if you only wear them the once?

Well done on job hunting so close to your pending arrival - best of luck on both counts!

I agree with Ongarboy. Don't wear jeans, they just don't look good enough. Why not go into Penney's or Dunnes, get a big pair of trousers, even elasticated waist plus size trousers? If they don't fit properly around the tummy(too bunchy or whatever), then a long top will cover that. You'll only have to wear them for an hour or two.

Good luck in the interview and with your little baby!

Dunnes do elasticated black trousers, buy a big size pair of these and wear a longish top to cover it...

I agree with the above replies. Wearing jeans would be a huge no-no. Maybe go to Penneys/Dunnes/Tesco/TK Maxx? These shops usually have a fair selection of formal wear that is inexpensive.

Alternatively, do you have any formal skirts or dresses that you could wear? With black tights perhaps if they're a bit too short?

    Best of luck!:)

A dress & jacket might be a better investment - preferably one that you can continue to wear after the pregnancy as well.

Would agree with a smart dress, black tights and heels. Always look smart and that you have made the effort, good luck with the interview :)
