    Outrights (for me)

Mens - Nadal 10/11 (usually 4/11 to win this tournament)
Djokovic is too short to win this a 11/8. Roland Garros is Nadal's arena , his spanish pride is at stake. The master of 3 set clay matches at 10/11 has to be taken.

    Womens- Stosur 10/1.
If she gets out of her quarter that has Wozniaki and the sassy Goerges (cor blimey!) i think she wins this.
She is better on clay than everyone above her in the betting and is bang on form.

    Nadal + Stosur double @ around 20/1. Stake €50

Bets i like tomorrow (later on today).

    Belucci tb Goulbev 3-0
@ 11/10. Clay specilist . If he can beat Murray on clay in straight sets he can surley beat Goulbev in 3. Goulbev isn't a good clay player and its hard to see him take a set here.

Gil tb Baggy - @ 5/6 . Due to Baggy been injured alot recently and not on his game

    Double short of 4/1

p.s. I am not a tennis expert for the record!

fair play johnjo , i have 2morrow off so i 'm up plotting how to claw back some of loosses on the fotty this season.

Leonardo Mayer tb Dustin Brown @ 4/9 2morr is another fair price i think. Mayer has had alot of good clay games recently.

I wouldn't overlook Djokovic...he's beaten Nadal 4 times this year (one of which was the final of the Rome Masters which is on clay) and has won 39 consecutive games. If there were ever year he was going to win the French Open, this is it

Yea mate Djokovic is playing like a man possesed, easily the best tennis player in the world right now

Apparantly the balls are lighter this year at Garros though which favours the amount of top spin nadal puts on the ball .

Not what i wanted at all yesterday, two out of 3 going down .
    Catch up already.
    Today,

    Rosol -evs
    Andujar-8/11
    mens &

    Oprandi- 5/4
    Pervak- 4/6
    womens

    trying an acca @ 13/1 stake €20

    one of these days...

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 781 ✭✭✭Cartel Mike

Reason i'm still going is that i'm picking off wins in running which is the best way to approch this , but no excuses . 2 out of 4 in any acca simply isn't good enough.

The women's games are a minefield , finding value isn't easy. At the end of the day whoever turns up with the less emotions and hormones usually wins.

I think Pironkova is value at 7/4 against Dulko.
She's a wimbledon finalist so she can handle the pressure in a 50/50 game where both players are trying to find form.

Tsonga hasn't impressed at all. Clay isn't his bag and he has laboured to move sometimes at all . Andreev is hardly a world beater but is well over priced at 4/1 so i reckon i'll take Tsonga on here for the hell of it.

    2 singles.

    Enough already.

    Last stand.

    Kanepi tb Watson 2-0
    tomorrow @ 8/11

    Full purse.

Favourite backing is the way forward in the early rounds, however had to do a 13 match accum just to get 6/1. The prices ranging from 2/5 to 1/14. Davydenko today to complete it.

Have another 13 match accum today and tomorrow which pays only 7/2 but each player has been walking the early rounds barely dropping a set. There's a huge divide between the top and bottom players in tennis and i've tried to stay away from the french outsiders as they're the likely ones to cause the upsets!!

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 781 ✭✭✭Cartel Mike

    Going to go for

    Goerges tb Bartoli @ 2/5

    Wawrinka tb Tsonga @ 11/10

    friday double 15/8

Wawrinka is a choker and i guess most will back Tsonga here but i couldn' back Tsonga at 4/6 myself (i hope this could be an over -reaction by the bookies). Wawrinka really needs to win the first set in this one.

Well I'm after accidently placing £100 on Del Potro there @4.90, not a clue how that happened.
Have put a lay order in at 4.80 for the same amount but I'm just wondering should I cancel the order and wait until just before the off tomorrow - anyone have an estimated guess what Del Potro might be at? Around 4.70 would do me fine!

don't know when that match restarts boss but it might need a bit of patience.
Think djocko serves first 2morrow and presuming he holds , potro's price will only drift to 5.0 - 5.2 mark straight away.
It 'll come back in though if potro holds back straight away.
I' m sure he will and you'll get at least 4.7 if he wins the 1st point of any of djocko's serves

Worst thing can happen is if Djocko goes 2-0 up from the off.

    Its a tricky one that,
wouldn't cancel the 4.8 myself , you might not get it again.

Don't know who's gonna win today.
All the ones on the right side could win or all the ones on the left side could win either,....could be a mixture of both.
    Who really knows?

Remember those days Terry eh... jumpers for goal posts?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 781 ✭✭✭Cartel Mike

    Ok.
    Seriously ....
    Fun bets today.

€5 on Radwanska & Petkovic both to win in 3 sets - @13/1 (unluncky for some)

€5 outright on nadal and my new girl Znonoreva which is 20/1.

Might have a small bet €5 in running on Troicki if he looses the first set today. Other than that don't see much.

    Come on Man Utd.

any ideas on fognini v montanes??

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 781 ✭✭✭Cartel Mike

I just stuck a tenner on fogninni a 2/1 after going a set down but not really that confident!

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 781 ✭✭✭Cartel Mike

Not a tennis expert but i'm sure alot of tennis gamblers will consider laying both Jankovic and Bartoli 2day . Both arguably questionable odds- on shots.

Federer is an ok price to win in 3 , but who knows with Wawrinka , he might decide he wants to win a set after all but i doubt it.

Not that much faith in Gasquet to win a set v Djocko, but since Djocko did play yesterday , it may be worth a stab to back Djocko 3-1 after he wins the 1st set . The odds of that may be 11/4 -3/1 or so.

Just my theroies , but then again i havn't been the luckiest so far.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 781 ✭✭✭Cartel Mike

Na Li probably isn't gonna roll over today . Gut feeling tells me to risk her @ 13/8 against Kvitova but rather than risk a medium stake, i feel more comfortable doubling her up with Sharapova's match to go Over 2.5 sets @ 6/4 with bet 365 .
Double is 6/1 or so. The women are killing me in this french open so im only risking a tenner on that.
I've given serious thought to laying Sharapova here ( i hope that came out right).

Yea , Troicki can beat Murray.... but will he..? Could be a trap.
Troicki only gets beaten by top 6 players these days. He hits alot of winners and always looks like he's on speed.
I like over 39 games with bet 365 @ 6/5 myself in this match.
If your having a gamble on Troicki use Betfair as Murray has a sore ankle and its not impossible that he might retire if things arn't goin his way.

Lov'in Simon's price at 5/2 today and if things go well i'll prob take Soderling on and why not.

    Japt9acjt@£#j3;!

    No interest tomorrow.

Betting wise, this thing goes downhill from here .

Djocko just got a bye into the semis and is now odds on to win @4/6 .

Nadal 2 tough matches before final and is now 11/5.

    So i'll take that.

    .

    Huge price on Rafa.

He has been poor but Soderling since his split with his coach has been poor as well. He was good against Simon but the French man was a shambles and as someone who is a fan of Simon, thats not easy to say.

Nadal if he gets past Soderling then will play one of Chela, Troicki or Murray.

The Scot would be tough but don't be surprised to see him implode tomorrow against Troicki as in a one set shoot out anything is possible. However even if Murray gets through Chela will work his injured ankle hard and he will be shattered if he reaches the semi.

However if Rafa meets Chela or Troicki in the semi it will be a bloodbath.

Both lads are good but nowhere bear Rafa even in his current shaky form.

Novak on the other hand has a semi with Roger looming. Novak is in superb form but never rule out Roger, he has beaten Novak often before so he knows how to get the job done.

No value whatsoever in Novak, I'm all over that Rafa outright price now though..;)

Anyone give Monfils a chance? In front of his home crowd he'll be well up for this. I realise he's flattered to deceive on many an occasion.

Was considering a small bet on Fed winning 3 sets to 1 @ 13/5

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 781 ✭✭✭Cartel Mike

Yea even if he does win i can't see the point in backing djocko now.

Bored so a stuck a few notes on rafa outright and a tenner on rafa + Na li outright @ 30/1.

LI's playing Azarenka 2morrow who is a false favourite imo in the womens.
She belts the ball 500mph (belongs in the mens tournament really). Hits it flat , no spin, finesse or variation at all.
Looses the rag when it dont go her way , punches umpires , castrates ballboys, pelts the crowd with missiles etc etc etc. Well rough. ( Johnjo's type of gal basically)
    50/50 game.

Don't know who will win the women's outright but there's value in trying a few of the outsiders.

yea worth a stab imo, the fed is a very short price to win in 3.
I think he beat him 3-1 last year (could be wrong)

Having only seen bits of highlights here and there this gets tricky for me now.

Schiavone is a better player than Bartoli full stop.
She has the ability to win this game in straight sets, but, she hasn't been doing this so far . At odds of 4/7 to win the match outright why complicate things.

Na li is the only woman who's actually been good to me in this tournament, so in short, im not gonna part with her now.
Maybe my tv's broke.... but she's playing superb tennis .Is my tv broke? .... the bookies seem to think so . She's 7/4 to beat Sharapova.... she was 13/8 tb Kvitova and 12/5 tb Azarenka!

Sharapova has a long reach( she got long arms) and swings from the baseline and pretty accurate. She has a massive height advantage.
But she is slow , moves like my nan (whos dead) and is hopless at the net.
Another 50/50 game . I'll take the pocket rocket.

Sharapova is something like 11/10 to win this game 2-0.

Laying that maybe the way to go on Betfair.

Nadal to beat Murray 3-0 5/6. Im all over this

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 781 ✭✭✭Cartel Mike

Can't see too many goin full purse tomorrow. Your either gonna take on Djocko or your not.

Bet 365 have the line at over/under 37.5 games @ 5/6 . If the Fed takes a set (he really should do) you can see this hit 38 games just about.

Since the Fed hasn't lost a set yet and Djocko's been match starved for 4 days , should federer chances to win the first set should be maybe better than 7/4 (bet 365)?

Bookies are gonna make a fortune 2morr. All guesswork. I'll stick a tenner on Federer to win the first set and loose the match - 9/2 bet 365.

Good luck to anyone taking a stab.

Done an accumulator with a mixture of football and tennis bets today. Waiting on one selection to win 188 euro. That selection is Na Li to win tomorrow. Now i know it will be a close game. Was going to stick money on Schiavone to guarantee at least a return back but she is evens so how would people go about it if they were me. Can you see Na Li winning?

She's gonna need Schiavone to have a bad day.
The TG4 highlights last night was the first i've seen of Schiavone in this tournament and she was very very good.
Checked the odds after that and they look slightly off.
This time i'd have Li as the underdog, yet she's priced as the 4/5 favourite.
I think a 3 set win for either player .

I need Li to win this but im only willing to part cover her i.e. take Sciavone's evens and double it with another event (footie, gaa)
or risk Schiavone to win 2-1 @ 3/1.
    Or,
if li wins the 1st set and you have a betting account , bet on Schiavone in running.

With small stakes there isn't much else.

Li i think's been broken in every single first set that she's played but that ironically is what gets her kickstarted.
Schivone is ferocios , if she gets ahead in the first set , she'll be hard to peg back. She's doin the whole serve' n' volley thing , moving into the net aggressivley.
Schiavone's only fault is that she's too agressive and moves in too early leaving her in no man's land half the time.

Women though- who really knows what there gonna do on the day!

Federer was stupendous today. He's better than a 2/1 chance to win this so i prob should cover Rafa with that 2/1.

Murray had Rafa in a headlock today for nearly 2 sets but didn't pull the trigger.
Federer would have done just that.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 781 ✭✭✭Cartel Mike

Nadal's gonna have to improve here .Usually , Federer manages to somehow bring out the best in him.

    Tight.

    Alot of flincing.

    1st set crucial.
    Could be a classic.

    3-2 to Nadal @ 5/1 for interest.

Gutted I didn't back Fed in the semi, no matter Novak's form, 9/4 was sooooooo tempting for Fed.

Could be a classic indeed :) Think Fed looks slightly too big and will have a nibble for interest. Beating Novak is too impressive not to take notice.

Bored so a stuck a few notes on rafa outright and a tenner on rafa + Na li outright @ 30/1.

look it, theres little point in taking much credit for that one, as A/ i doubt many (or any) backed it anyway and B/ in all it was my 3rd stab at trying to match up the outrights in this tournament.

A few big names went out together quite early in this tournament to relative unkowns - eg Davydenko, Cilic, Clisters & Ivanovic some of who's opponent's odds were as big as 20/1 or more pre-match.
    If you'd have matched
those 4 alone in an acca, you'd be in the Bahamas by now sipping Pimms.

Shakey start but did my best. Considering how many punters gamble on tennis this thread was as dead as Michael Barrymore's swimming pool.

It was so quiet at times i could hear Urban Sea's stomach rumbling with starvation up in the chat thread.

I think theres live tennis 2morr on the telly but i havn't even looked at it , might wait till Wimbledon.

Fair play to Rafa he's any gambler's friend and the little spitfire Na Li.

(.....makes you feel like you just got into a sauna with the Seoige sisters..)

any profitable tennis betting logs on other sites?

i'm not sure boss. I used to post on airtricty league games over on Punter's lounge but havn't done that in months.

I checked over there a few days ago and there is a tennis catagory alright.
It looks the same as the footie section , alot of guys tipping 2/7 to 8/13 shots on handicaps over/unders etc and writing essays based on stats.
    Don't know if its profitable.

I went off the place ages ago, too stuffy, sanatised . No charaters on that site at all.
If they tip a favourite or a 1/3 winner they're not shy in tapping themselves on the back niether.
