Lads, was putting these in today, didn't have any spares and put a slight tear in the "rubber" coating on one. I left it in as like I said I had no spares. Should I have taken it out or would it be o.k?

I hope it wasn't heifers that you used them on.

Whenever I used CIDRs in heifers over half of them repeated to the first service. What I do now is tail paint them observe them 3 times a day for 7 days any that don't come in heat during that time get a lutlyse injection and are AI'd when observed in heat. I get very little repeats if any compared to using CIDRs.

I am using them on heifers, they stay in for seven days and on removal the heifers get a shot of lutalyse or estrumet, both are the same thing. I find that I never get a repeat this way. I only do it for embryo transfer work as I have to synchronise up to ten at a time and I find that this method has always been 90% or better for me. I would never have any more than one not on heat and rarely even have that. It is expensive though as it costs €17.50 a head for CIDR and the injection.
