I've heard it said that with the passing of the celtic tiger, that there is less demand for stolen tools and that burglars now concentrate on stealing metals, especially copper. Any truth in this?

copper and lead being pinched all over the country. pretty much the way it always was, even scrap steel is making serious money at mo. aparently something to do with transport costs and heard japan is using up a lot in rebuilding. tools are still being lifted but theres less opportunity for thieves now as there are less trades parking vans up outside big sites for the day while working.the less the demand for them the less they will be seen as good value. just remeber buying stolen tools only brings misery on other people and a good chance whoever you buy them off will probably rob them back at some stage.
