Did you panic when you found out your OH was pregnant?

I remember a few years back when I found out my ex (OH at the time) was pregnant, I was mad panicked, but it eased over time.

Just wondering how you reacted when you found out you were going to be a parent, did you panic or was it immediate smiles?

Also, to girls, how did you react when you found out you were pregnant?

I didn't panic when my lover was up the duff, her husband was slightly put out though.

Never been preggers but have had recurring pregnancy nightmares since my teens.

If I found out I was pregnant, I'd react like Homer Simpson and pull all my hair out. Attractive.

Sorry things didint work out for you.

If people are trying to get pregnant it's "yippee" In not then less "yippee" i guess.

Even more fun is when youre in the latter group and find out at the scan that there's two bundles of joy on the way and not one.

Was like winning the lottery tbh. I imagine. I couldn't believe that I'd got something I'd wanted for so long. I know this is AH and I should probably have a more witty and multi-layered answer but there it is really. One of the top five moments in my life.

I freaked out the first time. Himself was all chuffed with himself - 'I'm a maaan, look at me all virile yadda yadda' but I was totally freaked. Immediately started having Alien-type dreams about grotesque creatures bursting out of my stomach etc. I guess himself was readier than me. This time it was sort of hyper-planned, so the biggest feeling was relief rather than joy. In any case, the joy gets a bit muted when you've just hurled for the fourth time in as many hours. Come back to me in about 6 months, I should be back to myself by then. Oh, and he's chuffed again, and hoping it's twins. Bastard.

I was 19 at the time and remember thinking "What da fcuk, how will I know when a baby is sick and panicking like mad over that!!!!".......

I was soooooo scared about that, how would I know when to go to a doctor??:confused:

It's mad now looking back after having 4 kids, the eldest who is 17 today that this was my 1st thought when I was told I was pregnant:D

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 2,130 ✭✭✭Azureus

I am terrified of falling pregnant, so I know I would freak out.
Had a scare once with himself and I was suprised at how calm we both were with it considering how much we both DIDNT want it. Lots of talking and contingency plans went on, so now I know what we would do if it happened again :D

I'll make a weekend of it, always liked London.

My soul would be destroyed if i knocked somebody up. Your whole existance would be useless apart from dedicating your whole life to your child. I know humanity has to survive but i really have to question people who intentionally have children. They must have emotional issues.

    Average girl in my town-

*Get pregenat between the ages of 18-22
*Once the child is born, get a house of the social welfare
*Have a second child from a different man.

Simple as that. Why a person would not want to get an eduacation, how some sort of security and travel in life before even thinking of having a child is beyond me.Im 25 at the mo , theres not a hope in hell id have a child before the age of 30-preferably 32-33.

While they would never admit it, im sure alot of woman/girls get pregges just to claim single mother allowences, rent supplements, get a house or what ever they get.

God, my head would be wrecked. I fkin hate kids. Though with my GF it wouldn't be too bad as we're together a while, if it was some random stink looking bastard bitch I rode in an alley that would be my worst nightmare, and indeed it was for quite a while.

Is there anyone out there who hated kids until they had some? I keep getting told I am going to want them some day but at nearly 29 I can't see it happening.

Option 1: Have fat stacks to spend on yourself. Get sleep, pursue hobbies intently with said fat stacks. Take regular weekend breaks in Europe. Drive a nice , powerful car with 2 seats and leave delicate and expensive objects around your (clean) house. have an option of buying an offshore power boat.

Option 2: Have no money, spend your days tired though lack of sleep and wiping sh!tty a-holes. When they grow out of that, put up with their angstey insecure bullsh!t.

    Hmmm

As much as I wouldnt want to get pregnant, this post is a bit extreme, why would your whole existence be useless?

My whole life would be dedicated to somebody else. I like my life but if i had a child it would destroy my lifestyle, it would destroy me as a person and i would be a shadow of myself. The only meaning of my existance would be for one person. My soul and personality would be sucked out of me by a child. I would kill myself if it wasnt for the responsibility of looking after my offspring. I have no career prospects and i will never earn a decent wage. My whole earnings would go entirely on that child. I would have no life. I would go to work and go home and my days off i would have to look after a child. That would whole life, every week for 18 years. No going out with the lads, no holidays, no concerts, no festivals, no football matches, just living like a slave to one person. Im 25 and i would be a slave until i am 43, possibly longer and those years should be the best years of my life.

And thats the financial issues, then there is the emotional issues of having a child. You go to work all week at a crap job, then every day you have to go home to a whinge bag child, slowly sucking the last bit of personality out of you. Even when if i try to get away from a crappy life by going to sleep at night, the child would probably start crying and finding more reasons to hate my life. When the child grows older and turns into a teenager, i would be treated with nothing but contempt. Like ive ruined the childs life by just existing and would have to deal with its hormonal issues.

Then we get to the mother of the child. Oh dear jesus. Your life is bad enough as it is and you give up every moment and every cent you have for the child for 18 years but every single day there is one person there to tell you its just not good enough. Somebody who wants more than every single second of my day and every cent i earn for 18 years. Somebody who would never be happy until she gets your head is on a platter. It would be like being in a jail cell on suicide watch whilst being forced to watch videos of kittens and puppies being tortured, just after being told Panda's and Tigers have become extinct.

You may think i could have parental issues but my parents have been happily married for 27 years and i have no problems with them. What ive stated above would be my life if i knocked somebody up :(

Children are useful in a sense that when you are old and cant drive/move then they can help you.

If a girl has a child she'll do for a one night stand,relationship-not a chance.I dont want someone elses little sprog looking for' 2 euro for the shop' and there father probaly sitting on a high stool somewhere.
