    Hi guys,
Brand new member here so forgive me if this tread has been posted before. I wanted to get peoples opinions on what counts as a club major. There are of course the top 2 of the captain's and president's prize. I assume the club strokeplay would also count as one but i'm not sure about monthly medals or competitions named after former members etc.

I don't think there is a formal definition of a club major, unless it's in the club's constitution. That said, the normally accepted understanding in clubs is those "special" competitions that are considered to be of a higher status than routine competitions (and usually carrying a higher competition fee and better prizes). Club majors usually include monthly medals, St. Patrick’s Day Cup, Captains and Presidents Prize, Singles & Fourball Matchplay and, as you say, commemorative competitions named after individual members.
To be sure, though you should ask one of your club's officers.
