    Hi all
I have recently booked a flight from Dublin to SanDiego with British airways. I have to fly with airlingus from Dublin to Heathrow. I am due to arrive in terminal 1 at 13.25 and depart terminal 5 at 15.05. I am very worried as I am aware that this is cutting it quite short for time. I tried to change my flight time with BA but they said I would be charged an extra 800 euro. They did however reassure me that I would have enough time to get from terminal 1 to 5 and catch my connecting flight. I am very worried as I have never even been to Heathrow. has anyone ever done this before or is there anyone could put my mind at ease. Thank you

    Don't panic!
You can make that ok. I have done it in less than 30 mins with only a mild sweat.
Just know where you are going, read the signs and follow the signs for exit and T5, get on the train and hey presto! Worst case is 15 min wait for the train, but the walk to the train takes a good 10-15 minutes, depending on walking speed and luggage.

Thanks for your reply. Just wondering do you know if I go through US immigration in Dublin or Heathrow???

Neither! When you land in San Diego.

Your transfer time is on the tighter end of things but should be fine if you walk it with a purpose. Enjoy btw!

    Hi leelee19

I have been to heathrow(LHR for short) quite a few time so i can help you with that

I persume that you book all the flight in one ticket then your bag will check through to San Diego and no need to collect it in LHR.

As you fly with Aer Lingus, ask the check in staff or choose yourself in online check in or self service machine in Dublin Airport to seat in the back of the plane. Once you reach LHR you will hear the instruction from the cabin crew for connecting flight passengers. The connecting passenger will get off the plane last through the back door then onto the bus. The bus will bring you to the Flight Connection Centre. At the flight connection centre, get the bus to Terminal 5. Once you reach to Terminal and you have the onward boarding pass(if not get the boarding pass from the BA connection desk in T5). proceed to security.

here the link for information for flight connection in LHR

You will preclear US immagration and custom in San Diego

But this could change but I done this the last time I connect in LHR.

    hope this help.

    Enjoy your trip.

oh thats good.thanks for your reply. I was looking at other posts on this and was getting really worried as everyone was saying it took minimum 2.5 hours to get between terminals. Things are looking up :)

And as well allow time to wait for bus in the flight connection centre in terminal one and the security in T5. All depend on how many people are connecting in LHR

You should get the boarding pass for the ba flight to san diego in dublin with your aer lingus boarding pass if it was all booked together.
Be sure and ask for it.

If the ba flight is a seperate booking, then check in on line for that 24hrs before the flight and print it's boarding pass.

You'll get there in plenty time assuming your aer lingus connection isn't delayed.

Even if the worst happens and you miss your BA flight, they'll put you on the next available flight for free because it's all booked on one ticket. No need to panic.

Yes - in my experience - but only if you have a Through Ticket and not 2 x Point to Point tickets.
