It isnt mentioned there but presumably the Samsung Galaxy Ace will also be down to 229.99€, which would be about 40€ less than Amazon, but it would be sim free from amazon, obviouxly

most android phones from experience arn't locked to a particular carrier

Maybe not but their branding can really slowly down updates. Take the Samsung Galaxy S on Meteor, 3 months now since the 2.2.1 update was available and still no sign. You do avoid this with a totally sim free phone

How do you get €60 credit if you upgrade? Just checked meteors website and all I could find for PAYG upgrade customers was;

"Once you’ve re-registered, you’ll receive your €5 call credit. (we know, it does seem lots of hard work for just €5 credit!"

Or do you have to switch from another network and port over to Meteor?

Not really any good bargains here imo. I would go for the LG optimus 7 which has better specs than any phone above + is unlocked (you can use it with any carrier) although it is using windows phone 7 (I have read that its a great mobile OS from reviews)

My sister has the Galaxy Europa. Its a hell of a lot of phone for 80€ anyways, i'll give it that. You can upgrade it to froyo officially too(But maybe not through meteor) so its still a fairly modern handset too! The build quality is very good for the price too i think, and the touchscreen is capacitive so its fairly responsive too

Thanks Zonda - good info. My first smart phone and I am coming from a pretty low base in any case (current phone has a broken back, needs to be charged everyday and the screen is in bits).
