Isn't that something to do with Ubuntu? What OS is on your laptop?

    Its the GRand Unified Bootloader.

Its for loading Operating Systems, usually installed when installing Linux to allow you to start different kernels and Windows(if you want to still use Windows).

    Hi,

If you have installed linux and had a dual boot system (for example) and subsequently modified the system (repartitioned etc) then it would result in the bootloader (Grub) being unable to find the operating system. Grub would then issue you an error message and instruct you that it couldn't boot.

If yours is a windows machine then you can try to repair the master boot record by using the windows CD/DVD that came with the laptop.

Probably best to keep it in the original thread, which was moved to the best forum for you by Spear.
