Maintaining Strength While Travelling

I've been doing the Stronglifts programme for a few months and have made some decent progress. However, in June I'm heading to work in a rural part of sub-Saharan Africa for 3 months, and I'm conscious of the fact that I'm likely to lose a lot of what I've gained due to not having access to a gym, and potentially due to not eating as well as I do at home.

I was wondering if there are any specific programmes geared around bodyweight exercises, and if people had any tips or suggestions for maintaining as much strength as possible in situations such as this.

    Thanks.

    Just bought these:
    http://www.fitmag.co.uk/fitmag_pro_m...ube_system.htm

Chins, handstand push ups, dips, picking up heavy stuff, pressups, squats holding weight etc.
Don't know about the diet mate, I'm sure they eat something there.

    Get yourself a TRX

And have a look at this article for some tips.

Best of Luck, sounds like you are going to have a pretty cool three months.

Those resistance bands look interesting actually. I wonder if they're more effective than just using bodyweight exercises?

I'm not too worried about the diet really. I'm sure there will be plenty of food, but most of it I won't be used to and I probably just wo't have as much control over what I eat. But it's all about doing the best you can with what you've got, right?! :)

Thanks tyuis. It'll be an interesting experience anyway! :)

Some good tips in that article. The TRX looks good, but pretty pricey! I wonder if it's much better than resistance bands/bodyweight exercises?

No reason why you can't utilize both, pressups with bands across your back, military press with bands stretched under your feet. There's a lot you can do with bands. Plus they are portable and light.
