just been looking at some of these mobile mechanics around dublin has anyone any experience with any good or bad?

would you use one or would you prefer to use a garage for repairs or servicing?

they seem to be charging fair amounts for servicing with the lower overheads they are able to pass on the savings to the customer so win win or is it?

I presume they just do basic servicing? I doubt they'd be replacing a gearbox, wheel bearing at the carpark to work?

Even the AA only do the basic servicing/inspections on location. We regularly get suspension/brake/diagnostic work sent to us by the AA when they have done a service.

with them being mobile and working from mobile numbers and with no base or workshop im just thinking if something went wrong after they been working on it and you cant get in contact with them again where is your comeback?

i no to use a well established one or what ever but for talk sake if your engine packs in because of an oil leak or something and its going to cost €0000's to fix and the moile lad you used has vanished what to you do then?

would you stick to your regular garage where he has a base and established years and you always have somewere to come back to?

I just can't grasp the difficulty in arranging a day to bring your car to a garage for a service, most garages are open on a saturday too so I doubt anyone has that hectic a schedual!

As for a mobile mechanic being cheaper, I doubt that would always be the case. You could argue that he has less overheads, but if he is a proper registered business then he will have the same liability insurances etc to cover as a normal garage and while he may not have a building etc to pay for, you will generally be paying a premium for the 'conveniance' of not having to drive your car anywhere.....except that you will anyway, if your car needs anything beyond the basic work.
