I know there was a thread on this a while back (not mine but it comes up on search) but it went way off topic and never dealt with the actual issue so am trying again:

The above place just off the N2, anyone had any dealings with them?
They seem to have a decent mix of cars (mostly older, but a few nice new models).
Am thinking of going to see the Santa Fe 7st auto they have, wondering if anyone else has dealt with them, bought from them or sold to them etc

    Any input welcomed

    Thanks

Yes I have. All three cars that I have owned were bought from Diamond, never a bother and great prices.

i bought a car off them before, was cheap enough at the time but had a few issues.
guy was honest and upfront about the problems and also that there would be no warranty for them.

he told me that he bought a joblot at auction and was selling them on "as-is"

take all that with a pinch of salt in terms of legal rights and get out clauses, but i was happy enough with what i got and the price.
i imagine you might have a fight on your hands if you tried to go back "as a consumer" to complain about an issue with the car

Cheers for the feedback guys, definitely helps

They do seem to price below the average for the market which is good, am sure that is reflected in the after sales service etc but that can be hit and miss with most dealers

Dancor, what kind of cars did you buy off them and when, if you don't mind me asking?

A Ford Fiesta about 4 years ago, this was when one of them worked for a previous big name dealership, two of the lads from the same dealership set up Diamond and went it alone afaik.

Then a Focus two years ago and a Primera recently.

Cheers, I rang them there and they are open til 2.30 tmw.
Will have to go and have a gander at that Santa Fe.

I presume they don't go too far on warranty etc (ie that's why prices are below avg).

They can't legally sell cars to the public "as seen", so I would run, not walk away.

Aye true enough, will give it a test drive anyways, if I consider buying I will grab the brother in law (knows his cars very well) and bring him to have a look.

I recently bought a Peugot 207 with a 3 month warranty from them. I got a very competitive price and traded in a 1999 Citroen Xsara which was great. However, after handing over the cash the car wouldn't start. It took a few attempts with the foot on the acceleration to start the engine. One of the guys out there told me it was due to water in the engine as the car was just washed. The problem persisted and, having taken it to a mechanic, I discovered the software was not properly downloaded to the car and it had to be taken to a dealer to rectify it costing around 150e. The warranty did not cover this which left a bad taste in the mouth. Their prices are very good but I would advise bringing a mechanic with you before buying.

They are called "trade sales" for a reason.
