NCT - Help with light

My car failed it's NCT this morning because of a sharp edge on this light (pic attached). It passed it's NCT 2 years ago, the first of this years one in March (where it failed on the parking/emergency brake), and then failed on it this mornings. Their reasoning behind not failing it before but failing it today is that they have to be stricter because of the TV show. :rolleyes:
Anyhoos I don't want to buy a whole new light as this yoke is already costing me too much to run! Do you think I'd get away with filing/sanding down the edges and maybe a lick of black silicone to put a smooth edge on it?:pac:

Doubtful. The official reason is the sharp edges, but do you think if you worked in the NCT you'dpass a car missing the lens on a lamp?

It's past twice without it though? I think the real reason is that it's not my handy work so I don't want to be out of pocket :pac: The bumper was resprayed so looks like a previous owner may have backed into something or got a tip from behind.
