I haven't heard of them but I just have to ask..another new retailer? The market here is so saturated with shops it's ridiculous, I think that's 3 new shops this month alone. 2 of which are in Wicklow, giving a total of 3 shops in a county with only 1 site. Boggles the mind.

I don't think the markets saturated.A lot of stores offer the same thinhs,Cybergun or ASG branded products. You can never have too much choice.

There are about 10-12 shops in Ireland, probably more. We've a tiny airsoft community here, Britain by comparison has roughly half the retailers we do for a much larger community. This post by Shiva hit the nail on the head about shops here. In the past few years 10 or so shops have popped up and then gone out of business meanwhile the same 4/5 shops maintain their market share because they provide all the services needed.

More shops won't bring more choice, it spreads business thinner over more shops meaning they will reduce their stock in response to less trade meaning there is less choice in the end.

Never heard of the Wicklow Airsoft shop , the new shop in Bray is not only a Airsoft shop but a camping and hunting store as well Airsoft is a small aspect of it.

Dont know about the shop but the fact that they are advertising guns with 449 fps and 407 fps as the velocity has me wondering should they even be online?

Most airsoft devices sold in Ireland are capable of firing beyond the 1joule limit and the manufacturer-supplied advertising usually displays the typical fps available. Irish retailers often just lift the advertising blurb straight from the manufacturer site without changing the details. Some of these figures also refer to 0.12gram BBs which we don't use. Should the correct fps/energy be stated? Yes, but it's not exactly a mortal sin, is it?

Commercial websites are often sold as complete packages so it's not surprising some sites look the same. An obvious example there is eHobbyAsia & Eirsoft.

And before any asks NO I don't have any connection to this retailer, in fact I have absolutely no clue who/where they are.

if you look at some of the pictures ricka puts up from hobbyairsofter you will see that they are all over 1 joule... but thats the only picture he has so he uses that....

i never noticed ehobby and Eirsoft!

Virtually all if not all are capable of firing over 1 joule but it is illegal to have them over 1 joule, thats not the point. Either its false advertising or the sale of illegal firearms under Irish law depending on what is the actual fps of the rifle. Some retailers do lift or use manufacturer supplied advertising but from what I've seen they are quick to note that items supplied will be under the 1 joule limit. Also 447fps with a .12bb is still 1.11 joules, still over the limit. So illegal on all counts, maybe not a mortal sin but surely not something you should dismiss so flippantly

I wasn't dismissing it, I was explaining the reason why this type of information appears on AEG advertising.

The type of advertising below regularly appears on a reputable retailer's thread, usually with the one-line caveat that it will be on sale @ >1joule. This line is very easily missed, but few (if any) users have an issue with it because they know they won't be sold an airsoft device >1joule

We all know the law, no repsonsible airsofter would knowingly buy/use an airsoft device >1joule, and no responsible retailer would deliberately sell an airsoft device >1joule
