    Hi

Got a 2000 passat for nct and rang up on 12th may and was told nothing available for some time, I mentioned about the booking within 2 weeks etc and was told they will see what they can do… got one for the 6th June but I really needed a test date before June as from 1st June all cars im told from over 10 year old will only get 1 year test instead of 2 which means on the given date of June 6 I will only get less than 6 months..

Is there Anything I can do here

    thanks

    Chauffe, Marcel, chauffe!

Ask to be put on a cancellation list. I did last week and within a few days they send me an automated SMS with an appointment for 2 days ago. NCT valid on my 10 year old car till 2013 :)

Why did you leave it so late to get the car tested from what I gather the car is out of test foe at least 6 months. You can present a car for test up to 12 weeks before the test expires so only yourself to blame. Its difficult to get a test at the moment for the same reason every one wants to get in before the 1st of June.

Hi, so what happens if i got a test date for last day in may and it fails, then bring back in june, only get 6 months instead of 18

I do not understand why they cant do the decent thing and test the car from the date you bring the car IN FOR TEST like they do in Northern Ireland, makes alot more sense, THEN I WOULD GET MY FULL YEARS TEST...

Call in, in person and ask if they've any cancellations, they may sort you out there and then, afternoons a grand time.

I don't see how it's the decent thing to do.The system rewards people who maintain their car and go to the trouble of getting their test sorted on time. Its not hard to do,my last 2 cars have been tested 2/3 months early and both passed first time.

+ 1 If the car is correctly maintained it wont have a problem passing the test unfortunately correct maintenance seems to be an alien concept to most people in this country.

Cancelation list is your best bet, all calls for booking your nct go directly to a call centre in citywest who then assign you a time and place etc, Obviously theres probaby a load of people doing the same as yourself because of the new rules and even people due ncts in august woul dbe ringing up now looking for teir test before june because you can go for it 3 months in advance and still get the full 2yrs on your disc aswell as whats left on it etc
