Battery in an unattended car

I have a car left in France unattended for months at a time. I have to use jump leads each time I first use it and then there is no problem. I am wondering if I put in a new battery will it hold the charge between use as sometimes it is difficult to organise a jump start. I have tried using trickle chargers and disconnecting the battery between use to no avail. Would a separate jump pack hold a charge for several months?

Take out the battery and leave indoors if possible. The cold can have an effect on it also.

I can't see any reason why a fully charged new battery that has been disconnected could not have enough charge to get you going after a few months.

I left a used battery outdoors exposed for months and it was fine.

There are solar panels available that you can attach to your battery to keep it topped up while not in use.

I have tried the solar panel to keep it charged and it didn,t work and I can,t store the battery away from the car. I just don' t want to buy a new battery if it discharges while I'm away. Thanks

There is your problem. You are using an old battery so the solar panel thing won't work as well. If you put in a high spec new battery and use the solar panel top up ( I take it it can get daylight?) and you should be fine.

Also does the car have an alarm. It would be using power too while your away.

You don't have to have the battery connected up when its in the car, just disconnect the negative terminal when you're not using it.
