If you became the boss of 2fm how would you change the lineup? This is what i would do, 5am Louise McSharry, 7am Anton Savage, 10am Larry Gogans golden hour, 11am Rick o Shea, 2pm Dave Fanning, 4pm Will Leahy, 7pm Ruth Scott, 10 Chris Barry.

I'd take that Paddy eejit who does the weekend afternoon off the air and have him making tea.

I'd make 2fm stop giving any of its airtime over to RTÉ Pulse.

Why would you put Terry Prone's son on 2FM?

2FM needs to grow up and stop trying to compete with Today FM, it should drop it's inane diet of pop chart crap and exapnd to play many other genres of music, blues, irish, country and more otherwise 2FM is just a waste of money, taxpayers or advertisment, it doesn't matter, these days 2FM doesn't matter.

If you became the boss of 2fm ........

I would do exactly the same as every other boss of 2fm since it started. Rarely take a chance, go for the safe bet, don't piss off the DG, do not rock the boat, and when my stint was complete leave the job with the knowledge that my profile has increased and my pension pot is looking luverly, thank you very much. ;)

Why describe a successful man in his mid thirties as merely somebodys son?

He is an excellent broadcaster, and if someone manages to get him in a full time gig I'd imagine he would do very well.

It would be a very good idea for 2fm to move away from having talk on in the old Gerry Ryan slot, when tubs comes on after 9am reviewing the newspapers he just sounds like a piss poor gerry ryan holiday fill in.

I wouldn't describe Anton Savage as a successful man, and the quote is very relevant. He works for his mother, who is Terry Prone who is The Communications Clinic. He was awful on TV doing the aftermath of the apprentice. Patronising and smarmy. If they actually let Dave Fanning have a proper go of it, he would be good. I'm not a fan of his either, but I have heard him filling in and he was fine. Send Tubbs back to RTE1, give some new presenters a go at the breakfast show, and put Dave F in after that. Couldnt be any worse JNLR figures than they have now.

2Fm does nothing to set it apart nor has anyone who stands above their competitors.

    +1

Whatever about his connections, he's one guy that I love to hear filling in, and if he's on for Ray Darcy or Matt Cooper I make sure I'm tuned in!

It is clear that 2FM needs a major change personally I cant see why they have all these talk shows in the morning when thats what radio 1 is doing,I would like to see 2FM change into something a bit like BBC Radio 1 in the uk which has a great music mix during the day,I would say there would be an audience for it and if they have to have their talk shows have it at night like they used to do before just a suggestion because I dont know anyone that listens to 2FM in its present guise.

I think Dave Fanning should have taken over form Gerry Ryan, i'm not his biggest fan but he is not as patronising as Tubs. Larry Gogan should retire (it had to be said)

I'm not sure of a line up i would listen to but getting rid of Colm Hayes, Ruth Scott and Hector would be a start. The head of 2fm needs to make a schedule and stick with it thats one of the main reasons i stopped listening to 2fm. I think Kathryn Thomas could possibly do well with a full time slot on radio.

I would get rid of Colm Hayes. Cant stand his style of broadcasting and constant dublinisms. Soon as I hear that weary sigh that he opens his show with I'm running for the dial.
Stick Dave fanning in instead of him, and put Jenny Huston on in his slot.

Tubs has kinda grown on me but he badly needs to take it back a notch on his obsessions and make it a more listener/current affairs based show and less of the feckin jfk and jellybeans.

Quite like hector in small doses so would keep him in the current slot.

Get rid of Baz and Lucy. Awful awful awful.

Zig and Zag I kinda like for nostalgia reasons. Not everybodys cup of tea Id imagine though!

Time they brought in a few new voices perhaps?

In my opinion 2fm will continue to struggle because it tries to be all things to all men and women. Why they tried to replace G Ryan, I don't know. Well actually I think I do, it was to continue generating cash for Rte.

Message to Montrose, if you played more or less wall to wall music between 9 and 12 you'd be in a happy minority nationwide. And as for what to play, here's a thought Rte, ask your ever decreasing listenership . God knows there's a clear lack of wisdom in Montrose on the subject.

Much as I respect Larry Gogan, Dave Fanning and Chris Barry, they are too old for a youth station like 2FM. Fanning and Gogan should be on RTE 1 or Today FM.

2FM is run by people who are completely out of touch with their audience.

Couldn’t agree more with what’s been said here, it’s a shame as 2fm has become nothing more than a waste of FM bandwidth when it should be so much more. The main problem is, as already stated, it tries to be all things to all people resulting in bland programming and over paid presenters with that don’t have the talent to really justify being such a drain on the stations resources.

If 2fm is to be the countries youth station the programming should reflect that, I’d love to see a supply of fresh and young presenting talent on the station with a programming line-up similar to that of BBC Radio 1s with the daytime and evening aimed at the commercial music and talk show market and the late evening focused on specialist music shows for true music lovers.

I know someone here made a comment about removing the pulse shows, but I actually like these and the 2xm shows that are broadcast on 2fm, as the digital stations seem to be full of really well made programmes from young presenters that seem to have the freedom to make the programmes they want to and if 2fm could adopt this kind of ethos the station would be better for it.

It's a music station, not a youth station.

I would deem it to be both personally, a music station aimed at the youthful demographic, but appreciate the correction :) - Although either description of the station woulodn't change my above stated opinions.
