For a race that doesnt open until tomorrow morning, they've had no problem filling half the first batch of entries already!!

While this is my first attempt at this race, by all accounts its a very tough race and you're a brave man to do this as your first.

    Hey,

I entered the lost sheep for this year however I have been diagnosed with cancer and I will not be able to take part. Would anyone like to buy the ticket off me?

    For the mod's, I got this email from the organisers;

"Refunds of 50% on entry fee will be available up until July 31st or if organise it yourself you may exchange your place with another and send the details to thelostsheep@corktri.com for final approval up until August 26th. No changes will be allowed after this date. "

    Thanks!

Jesus, hope you're ok and make a full recovery.

I can't believe nobody's commented on why you can't do the race. I guess they skipped that bit of the original post.

    Hi,

Looking for an entry to the lost sheep in Kenmare, if anyone is selling one I'd love to take it off their hands.

According to Cork Tri website, exchanges can be done, once cleared by secretary before the 24th of August.

    PM mail,

    Thanks!

Appears to be lots more spots available on active europe now... 38 remaining at the moment...

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 302 ✭✭blind_hurler

presume these are the ones people returned earlier being resold

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 101 ✭✭cantswim

apparently not... transition is now going to be in a field near the pier where the race has started the last few years so the swim will now not go under the bridge. the field has more space than previous spot hence more entries available...

Anybody travelling back to Dublin on the afternoon of the race? Have a competitor travelling down with me Friday who needs to get back but I've no intention of doing anything after the race except drink and sleep?

Just read the race briefing. There's a 1km run between the swim exit and transition. And there was I feeling sorry for the lads in Galway last week :o

    I'd say 1km is a bit of a conservative figure!! what's the term for a walk-swim-run-cycle-run race???

Weather forcast is looking a bit grim for this - Lost Sheep Duathlon anyone? I've a dose of man flu at the minute and the weather for Saturday is not encouraging me to get better.

Weather not getting any better... had hoped that it would improve as the week wore on, but expecting gust of upto 70km (accuweather for Kenmare)... Wind seems to build during the day, thou, so hopefully swim will be full lenght!

Just read the race briefing. There's a 1km run between the swim exit and transition. And there was I feeling sorry for the lads in Galway last week :o

That's due to the road works on the bridge. The Lost Sheep organisers had done a lot of work on reviewing the race structure and had secured local permission to move transition to the field by the pier for this year's race. The ideal location for the pre-race preparations and for hosting T1 and T2. Then out of the blue, the road works started on the bridge reducing the traffic to one lane - immediate funding / couldn't be postponed appparently. So the Guards can ensure that the field crosses the bridge just once - early in the morning. After that the traffic volume will be too much with the single lane. As a result transition had to be moved back across the river to the Riversdale.

This may also impact the end of the cycle. If the traffic is queueing out the Glengariff Road to get onto the bridge then cyclists will have to slow down that bit earlier to get through to T2.

It's an absolute balls but the council said they had to start the work immediately. At least it affects all athletes to the same extent.

I see Dublin Marathon has also had to do a last minute reroute due to "sudden" road works in the Phoenix Park...

Worked out ok in the end in fairness. the bridge was a disaster surface wise and this was the right call under the conditions.
Blessed with the weather in the end, great day and super well organised.
    well done to all involved!
    that run was so tough...

Found the run very tough too. Weather turned out fine although the water was fairly freezing at first. Really well organised and marshalled and once again the Cork club provided an excellent goodie bag, full of stuff that is actually useful not like the crap that you get at most races.
Well done to all at Cork Tri and to all those who finished.
