Surprised this was never mentioned here, but Saab were supposed to be doing a deal with Hawtai, a Chinese manufacturer, which was providing Saab with €120 of fresh money to advance the 9-1 and other cars.

    This was then "terminated".

However, they are now tieing up with some crowd called Pang Da (also Chinese).

This apparently "secures medium term funding" for Saab.

I'm afraid to say, I don't think the future is that bright for them.

The new 9-5 isn't exactly flying out of the showrooms, in fact I have yet to see one in the metal. I know people have said they are not a good car at all, but Saab were supposed to have updated the model (already) to provide better interior plastics and most importantly sort out the ride and handling.

Not surprised the original deal fell through, €120 dosen't go a long way these days, would have only paid for a wing mirror I'd guess :D

I've seen two of them, they're pretty impressive looking, they look like they'd be a great drive.

I've seen a few of the new 9-5's in Dublin. I'd buy one if I could afford it. Might shop around for one in a couple of years

The first Chinese crowd (the deal that fell through) was a Chinese car maker. The current lot are "just" a massive dealership, expanding in the Chinese domestic market.

You might not get to buy a new 95 after all ..they might all go to China :D

The money they put in is just about enough to pay outstanding invoices and secure materials supply for a few weeks. Saab is by no means saved yet.
