Hi guys, I'm hoping someone can help me. I have an 02 Opel Asta which has roof rails built in to the roof. You push and slide these little covers to reveal the connection point illustrated below:

I'm meeting a guy who has a universal Thule roof rack for sale and I'm wondering how to mount it. As I have rails built in, will they just clamp on? Or are there adapters, different attachment types, or other considerations to take in to account?

As I was writing this I stopped and searched around for the last hour... crap. There seems to be a million different types of connectors/adapters for Thule racks requiring pretty expensive kits. They seem to vary greatly depending on the make and year. I was hoping this was going to be a generic universal thing. Am I s%&* out of luck?

If you have a Halfords nearby they have a list of what Thule kit number is needed for what cars; it'd do you no harm to have a look.

It could be worth pricing a new kit for your car to compare to what you're being charged.

When you get the Thule keys, make sure that you have the key that lets you remove the locks in case you need to down the road.
