    hi folks,
i have a 40d which i use with the 18-85 canon is lens. recently i have seen photos taken by a friend of mine with a 5d mk 1 and the 24-105 L lens. i have to admit his photos seem to be better quality than mine. is it the lens and the camera or the fact it is full-frame. i also sometimes use my 70-200 f4 L and its a bit hit and miss. is there a significant difference in the cameras or is it the lens. thanks in advance for any tips

Would depend on the ISO that your shooting at, aswell as your apperature and shutter speed, as you already know - The higher your shutter speed the less shake, keep it x2 the distance of your current zoom so if at 70 you'd shoot at 1/250 cause 70mm on a 1.6x crop is 112 mill - then considering your ISO in general the higher your ISO gets, the softer the image may also get, (Depending on how high you raise it) and then your apperature, the lower your apperature, (Higher the f-stop number) the sharper the image - There is generally a sweetspot where its sharpest around f8-f11 mixing all these, and the quality of light then you should start getting better quality photos, the body used shouldn't make that much of a difference - it could also be the way you are looking at them, if your screen is glaring etc. doing a print could show very very different results!

The 5d is using L glass so should be a good bit better than the 40d in similar circumstances
