Flat as a pancake again today, this time along the eastern Adriatic coastline. I can't see HTC and Lampre letting a breakaway stay away today so it sets us up nicely for the rematch of the Manx Missile v The Weaving Italian. My moneys on Cav today.

    M Cavendish - 5/4
    A Petacchi - 5/2

Might be mistaken but Cav looks very sluggish so far this year. Not just in this race but almost every time I've seen him ride.
Petacchi (I only used the inhaler) for me I'm afraid...

On the plus side Deignan seems to be hitting dome sort of form :)

Yeah, with Cav here and Goss in California (with a hugely ipressive early season and a month or so of training and rest behind him), I'm wondering who HTC's money is on to be the form sprinter come the tour... I know Cav won't sit down and let Goss take the mantle, but form is hard to ignore, and Cav's been middling so far.

It is good to see Deignan do well again, I'd love to see him up the road again, that stage win in the Vuelta a couple of years ago was brilliant!

It's mountain top finish :D, & last 100m @ 4%, I know where Cav is going to be :p, so......... Petacchi all the way !!

Peatacchi for me as well. That kick at the end will put pay to Cavendish hopes. The odds should be the other way round. 5/2 is good value on Patacchi. The match betting with Petacchi 11/8 to beat Cav is great value as well. Ventosa and Gatto won't be far away either.

Cav dominates the sprint in the end, he looks quite happy too!

And what were your predictions:rolleyes: Fair play to Cav he used Petacchi well. Ventosa got 2nd I knew he would be close 14/1 in places this morning.

indeed. He just got onto Petacchi's wheel and when the time was right just sauntered past him.

a bit of sour grapes from some of the other sprinters in the peloton after todays stage.
Mark Cavendish won the 10th stage of the Giro d'Italia, a 159km ride from Termoli, just hours after he was accused of cheating by two of his rivals.
Spain's controversial three-time Tour de France champion Alberto Contador retained the leader's pink jersey, finishing in the same time as Cavendish at 4:00:49.
Ireland's Philip Duignan also finished in the same time, and has moved up one place to 95th place in the overall classification, 46:14 behind leader Contador.

Cavendish, who edged out sprint rivals Francisco Ventoso and Alessandro Petacchi in the finish, had earlier been accused by two opponents of being towed up Mount Etna in Sunday's stage.

Cavendish arrived just 25 seconds inside the stage cut-off point, which had he missed would have meant the end of his participation in the race.

'He should only be happy that he's still in the race, he should have been disqualified for being attached to the car for a long time during the climb on Etna,' said Spanish Movistar sprinter Francisco Ventoso.

'It's shameful, everyone else kills themselves to get to the top inside the cut off time while someone else holds onto a car without the authorities intervening.'

Garmin sprinter Murilo Fischer added on his Twitter page: 'Incredible, he says he wants to win a stage at any cost and he does 10km holding onto a car.'

Cavendish himself refused to comment according to La Gazzetta dello Sport.

Those statements were made before the stage so I don't think sour grapes is apt.

what about scarponi drafting was it that stage or the one before so blatant got a massive pull off the car as well

Scarponi was getting back after mechaical trouble (Sundaystage) as the peleton were starting to wind it up he drafted in and out of the team cars to get back on they turn a blind eye if your in and out of the cars and dont piss around to long behind one
but its border line, plus the aul sling shot ,scarponi had it down to a tee ,border line id give him his due, he got back on at a savage pace ,bit of excitment?

Any idea what sort of gear Cav pushes in the sprint or what the max cadence would be heading for the line?

    yeah you're right actually.
Although they would definitely prefer Cav not to be in the race!

Hanging onto a car on a climb is a no-no.
Ok to cut a fellow in a sprint :o, but if he held onto a car for even a little while its a 'resigning or firing' matter.

Shane Stokes posted this site on Twitter earlier which has since been deleted from his feed. click

It shows pictures of Cavendish climbing up Etna with other riders, yet in the 3 pictures it isn't him holding onto the cars ;)
