    For Measuring distance

With the 5x800ms if you can try get to a track as easiest way to measure these (2 laps). However you can use the previous to measure out a little loop if you dont have access to a track or even base this on a time figure (4-5 min hard running depending on your target time)

Fartlek translates to speed-play. Its unstructured speedwork. Over a 5 mile course you'll run fast and slow in unmeasured distance ie pick a landmark about 200m away, a tree, lamppost etc and pick up your pace till you reach it, then ease off for a while, pick another landmark and go again. The intervals and pace are up to you. You can also put some structure by speeding up for 1 minute and easing off for 1 minute.

If doing a fartlick with a friend, be warned, it can turn into a blood thirsty sprint. Remember to take the rests is well.

That's disgusting. As if Fartlek wasn't hard enough.
