Unless someone wants to start a stage-specific thread, I guess we need to use spoiler tags for any race updates

Starting on Eurosport @ 10pm also.

Great lead-out by Sky, and fantastic result for Ben Swift

Is the ToC always this boring?

Yesterday's stage was quite exciting, I thought.

The final few kilometers makes up for what has gone before - not sure how many riders Sky have on their team, but their lead-out chain seems never-ending - another great result for them and Greg Henderson this time

anyone think the pace seems really slow compared to the giro ?

or is it just the wide roads make it seem like that

some smack jens took last night as well

    Hey Sports Fans!!

Cycling is huge in NZ at the moment with top rider, Greg Henderson taking the leader's yellow jersey in the Giro d'Italia!
It's hitting all the major TV stations.

    Arrivederci!

Edit- bah! they corrected the page. Must have realised that there's more than one cycling race happening at the same time.

Tonight's stage looks interesting, it has 2 lovely climbs, and a horrible (for the riders) finish !!
It looks like (from that link) that a certain Ryan S. (Sherlock) knows this 1st HC climb ;) (Well done sir, and good luck in the RAS).
anyone think the pace seems really slow compared to the giro ?
See here to compare 2 Pro's in the Giro and the TOC, see the 'Follow the Pro's on Strava' link, ie. Ted King @ TOC & Craig Lewis @ Giro ;)

More info on that Stage 3 sprint: here.
Quote from the winner: “I was so lactic I was cross-eyed!… I couldn’t even do a victory salute!”

For F... sake MrCreosote!! Did you just tell me who won todays stage of the Giro?????????

phew, it was only a typo!!

Well, finally the ToC burst into life! That was an epic stage win and really impressive to watch
    Horner in
the final 3k - I think he must have spent 80% of that out of the saddle, grinding his way (rather easily - if thats not a contradiction) to the victory.
Not bad for an oul fella but he had great form in the Basque Tour so perhaps not so surprising!

What (to me) was surprising (given his stated aim to win the stage in Weylandts memory) was the late and lacklustre push by
    Andy Schleck
. I was sure this was a perfect stage profile for him to ride away from the bunch, but he's obviously still 'building' towards the Tour.

Its OK not to on the following day, no? Anyway - just in case, I've added them in now. Hope I didn't ruin the surprise

You have to give Jens Voight the Hard man award yet again......

Voigt was involved in an unfortunate crash during the stage three finishing circuits in Modesto.

"The good thing is that I didn't lose much skin but my hand hurts and I can't really move it, also I can't really use it. I will go and have an x-ray tonight to see if anything is broken, at least I would know the recovery and what to do next. My shoulder is functioning and I have a contusion and hopefully my hand is not broken
    "

As the racing takes place so late in the evening over here and Eurosport show coverage of the previous day's racing during the following day, I think it best to keep the spoiler tags in until midnight on the day following the stage for this race

    Thanks

they pulled him out of the race the following day as a precaution

They were saying on Eurosport that they didn't know what the status of the rider was, which was why they didn't speak about it at the end, but the next day they said he had a concussion so had withdrawn from the race, but was otherwise ok

Commentators just mentioned you cannot get them exported from the USA, so it looks like you would need a friendly yank to buy one for you
