Hi, im new to biking.. i bought a virago 125 and i am going getting it serviced during winter but my problem is that the neutral light does not work.. its not the bulb as i have tried a replacement... there are two cables coming from the cluch.. one goes to the clutch the other leads into the wiring behind the headlight... the cable leading into the headlight keeps falling out of the hole for it on the clutch... is there anything i could do myself to fix this.. also it is hard to find neutral while the bike has been running but i can get it into neutral if i turn of the bike move forward a bit and click up from first.

    Regards,
    Keith

Can't help you on the first one but if you have bother finding neutral, try getting it into neutral while you are still moving, just before you come to a stop. Should be easier.

    where are you based?
the neutral problem could be 1) lack of oil in g.box 2) clutch needs to be adjusted 3) your chain, check for tight spots and what not.

if your near Meath id recomend

in your gearbox theres a switch/sensor and when your in neutral it lets the bike/you know your in neutral.

im not too sure about fixing it on a yamaha as im a honda man myself.

but before going and lookin for the switch/sensor make sure theres no broken or corroded wires anywhere.

a good forum for advice is biker.ie, www.biker.ie
i'm on there, Jack N. Noff is my name on it.

Is it first gear or neutral that you're having trouble with. I have a Virago and unless you stop in first then she won't move down to first while stationary (you need to get to first before you get to neutral) unless you give her some throttle.

no if i stop in first gear i cant get into neutral but if u push up with enough force i will end up in 2nd gear

sounds like your clutch is tad too tight

the clutch seems to bite very late i mean if im reving in first gear i have to let the clutch out to the very end before it will go

you should.nt have to let it all the way out/ or pull it all the way in either

if i were you i go get it checked mate

definetly a clutch problem by the way you'v described it to me

Yep, you'll need to get that checked. You need a bit of clutch resolution to control the bike at low speeds in first gear, she would be very jerky if you tried to control her on the throttle alone.
