Etape Shay Elliott anyone?

Would there be a market of an 'Etape Shay Elliott' if the organizers wanted to make a few quid for the club?
I'd envisage it starting early on the day of the race and that it would be timed with chips. It should also have a broom wagon to make it 'serious'.
Given that it is such a classic and so demaning a route I'd be prepared to pay .......

An "Etape" style event, though a good idea, could NOT be run on the day of the Shay Eliott, if you evisaged Bray Wheelers running such an event, the logistics involved is huge, Marshalling, Broom Wagon (as mentioned), Ambulances, motor cycle marshals, it is a big job organising all of this for the Shay Elliot alone, let alone running an Etape on the same day, I would say, even to run it the day before, would be a huge undertaking and put a lot of pressure on the club on what is ALREADY a demanding weekend for all involved.
Chipping the riders is a good idea, but would run into higher costs to run such an event, and you would need to be guaranteed high numbers to justify the usage of such technology, and it might also cause the entry fee to become a little higher than people would be willing to pay.

    Nice route.

It's a pity A4 distances are limited - a hilly 140k race with sprint and KOH primes would be "fun" and might suit people coming from the usual commuting -> sportives -> racing background.
