Hi, anyone got any experience or recommendations of Insurance companies who offer travel insurance for a cycling trip (to France)?

Would hope to have the bike covered in transit (by air) and while there for 2 weeks. And myself covered while there cycling.

    Thanks.

Im not sure but VHI travel insurance may cover it best to ring them and ask!

Thanks, I can see sports specific cover for Skiing and Golf but not for cycling. From looking around Incidental cycling (i.e. an ad-hoc cycle on a bike) can be covered but finding it hard to find specific coverage for actual planned touring / training camp...

maybe a planned touring/training camp type of thing might be covered by the organisers insurance (i.e. when you pay them, it might be included in the price, no?).

I'm heading over shortly myself, but i was just gonna get ordinary travel insurance (i'm doing my own thing, not part of an organised event or whatever), so I figured it's no different to anyone being away, and hoping up on a bike for an hour or two. not racing or in competition or anythning like that, so i imagine that doesn't need to be declared?

Did ye try AA Travel Insurance? I think they deal with all the main insurers, so they'd probably know offhand....

I recently took out travel insurance with Blue Insurance. There's a small loading for Bicycle Touring but the bike itself isn't covered.

I used the VHI travel insurance a couple of years ago and my back wheel was damaged during transport. I was told I couldn't claim anything ...
Maybe only if the bike doesn't turn up at all?

It appears that Blue Insurance will cover incidental cycling with no extra premium but only while wearing a helmet......if you have an accident while cycling on your holiday without a helmet, you will not be covered.
