The AC plug socket lights when cable is put in.

    Im thinking motherboard failure.
Ive taken the laptop apart and nothing seems wrong.

Is there anyway to check that the mobo is recieving power? so I can rule out a cable problem

Have you done a muiltimeter test on the psu plug to see if power is coming from block to the end you plug into laptop.
