I do on occasion too and it definitely helps to hit fairways

always go down a coiuple of inches.

As you say, just allows me to hit sweet spot more accuratrely. I'm longer than many, so certainly distance has not been impacted by me.

shame about teh rest of my game thogh :p

Same here - although if I choke down too much I get a horrible hook. A couple of inches from the top of the grip is spot on.

Deffo, if I need to hit a fairway then its down an inch or so.

Actually was reading an article over the weekend about Rickie Fowler .. who described 2 different drive swings .. one for power and one for accuracy... for accuracy he gripped down about 2 inches... teed the ball up a little lower and moved the ball more to the centre .. about 2 - 3 inches to the right of his left foot...
so I was planning to try this out at some stage...as I am about 50% in FIR at the moment (at best ;) )

Have tried choking down but seem to get a bad hook when I do, not sure what I am doing wrong, just more practice needed.

Interestingly (well i think so) Sergio plays a 43 and 1/2 inch driver.
Whereas most off the shelf these days are what ? ....45 plus?
Tempted to get my backup driver cut down to 43 and 1/2 and see what difference it makes as I am never fully comfortable gripping down on the club and this way I wouldn't have to.

Isn't it strange that in hurling we use either 32,33,34,35,36 etc....but this never comes into play from what I have heard in golf, surely your height etc should make a difference?!
