    Line up per the Guardian

    Arsenal-v-Aston-Villa-pro-001.jpg

Nothing match which I expect us to a typical Arsenal and beat them 4-1 easily when it doesn't matter.

    Fabregas is still out apparently.

Rumours abounding that there will be one shock decision in the Arsenal line up and most reckon Henderson is going to get a start

Henderson and Miquel are gonna be in the squad apparently.

I would still like to get 3rd place sorted though.

GARY McAllister has suggested he will chop and change Villa tomorrow by naming an experimental first XI against Arsenal at The Emirates.
Carlos Cuellar, Michael Bradley, Fabian Delph and Barry Bannan will all be pushing for rare starts against Arsene Wenger’s men.
Jean Makoun returns to the squad after a recovering from a dead leg, but Ciaran Clark will again miss out because of a back problem.
McAllister has also hinted at a different system.

“The formation may change a little bit,” said the caretaker boss. “There may be room to try a few things.
“I might be looking to do things a little bit differently with different players.”
McAllister believes Villa’s players can use tomorrow’s match and next Sunday’s final fixture against Liverpool as a test of their current playing levels.
“These two games can be great barometers for players,’’ he said. “With Arsenal, they are testing themselves against a team I believe is one of the best in Europe.’’
McAllister revealed Arsenal boss Arsene Wenger has visited close friend and compatriot Gerard Houllier several times during his recovery from his latest heart scare.
“Arsene’s been up to visit Gerard in hospital and at home. They go back a long way,” he added.
“Gerard would have liked to have been in charge for this game. It would have been nice for them to share a glass of red wine after the game.”

Just in case there was a chance of getting something from the game...

TV to make his first start since September.

Bit meh about it tbh, would rather Belgium didn't have a reason to call him up.

    What's the story with Bannan?

Watched him a couple of times early on in the season and thought he was quality. Him and Albrighton.

Same, we need to start a full strength side, now is no time for another attempt at winning people over to Project Youth.

I hope he starts like to see him for first time

I'm all for experimentation as this stage. I think 3 in the middle with Delph-Makoun-NRC could really put manners on Arsenals dandy midfield. That or play 5 in the centre with Bannan as the link up man.

Shame Clark is still out, much rather see him and Carlos at CB then Dunne and Collins.

    4-1 to Arsenal.

The inconsistency of young players I suppose.

Bannan can get left behind in games and can sometimes try the spectacular too often so he has some things to learn.

Albrighton is also in his first proper season so he likely tired although most Villa fans have been frustrated by his lack of playing lately.

Villa - 4-3-3 - Friedel; Walker, Dunne, Collins, L Young; Delph, Reo-Coker, Petrov; Downing, Bent, A Young.

Subs: Pires, Agbonlahor, Albrighton, Bradley, Heskey, Cuellar, Marshall.

    No big changes as suggested.

ARSENAL TEAM: Szczesny, Sagna, Squillaci, Vermaelen, Gibbs, Song, Wilshere, Ramsey, Arshavin, Walcott, Van Persie

SUBS: Lehmann, Denilson, Eboue, Chamakh, Bendtner, Henderson, Miquel

    Dodgy back line there

Arsenal have been very, very lax in the first 15 minutes. Shocking really. They really have started as if they are already on summer holidays. They might regret that if they have to come back early for Champions League qualification games.

Plenty of time left though. But it could be a big mistake to lose this game.

It'd be nice if we learned to cross the ball.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 14,500 ✭✭✭✭cson

    Has the ****ing penny not dropped that;

    (a) We can't play a high line when our defenders are both **** and slow

    (b) This one up top craic doesn't work

An extra couple of games for all the new players bedding in won't be a bad thing.

Can we please just go 4-4-2 at HT. Please.

I'd like to see us go with Bendtner up top, Walcott beside him and RVP in behind those two. For the lolz like.

But no, you know as well as I do what's coming Frisbee; Chamakh & RVP up top with Bendtner on the wing to save us as he's done so often this season.
