dont know if this is the right place to ask but here goes. i recently moved in to a very nice estate and the house beside me has been idle for 2/3 years the young couple who used to live in just got up one day and just walked out leaveing the house idle. i was told that they simpley couldent afford the morgage. the thing is that the house is not boarded up or no for sale sign it is just left to rot.i was wondering how would i find out who or what bank owens the house . i think that if i could find out maybe i could buy it at a nice price but dont know how to find out if its even for sale???

Local town / city council holds the land records for the area. Apply to them...

    No they don't

Contact the Land Registry. Ask them how to do a "search". There's a small fee, less than a tenner if it's straightforward.

Land registry is mow called the "Property Registration Authority"

Or write a letter to every irish bank offering to buy it.
