Paul Tierney (Eagle AC) smashed the 132km Wicklow Way individual record today. Paul finished in 13:38:51, taking 7 min and 10 secs of the previous record of 13:46:01, held by Eoin Keith since 2008.

Any of the runs end to end of the Wicklow way I've heard about in recent years have been Marley to Clonegal. I wonder has anyone established a time for the other way around?

Fair play to Paul for a great achievement. Lucky the attempt wasn't today. There was a headwind blowing north that made running on the Djouce boardwalk difficult.

Jane Porter still holds the female record and has done so for 10 odd years or so. Anyone ladies tempted??:D

Am I right in saying that this record has moved from one Corkman to another? Surely something can be done about this? Any suggestions?

How long did it take Jane Porter?
I would like to run it all some day but I wouldn`t be going for any records.

Don't know Jane's time offhand. Someone else might know?

Eoin or Paul could probably give the full details of whats required. Its from the Wicklow way start sign in Marley park to the end sign in Clonegal. You'll need support to give you some food and drink over the day and you'll need to work out a plan as to where you'll meet them over the course of the day and you could have someone running with you for some of that.. its fairly informal, as far as I know. You're support will need to know the backroads of Wicklow as the way can get pretty remote. You'll probably need a dawn or pre-dawn start, to enable most of the run to happen and complete in daylight. A weather window is vital. Paul set his last week with favourable conditions. Weather this weekend had a fierce wind which would have make it very difficult.

Read somewhere that Jane Porter's record is 19 hours 54 minutes, dating from 1998...so a female attempt at breaking that is well overdue:D
