Personally, I don't think it's worth it. Most places only offer the reflow fix which is practically a waste of money. If you really don't want to shell out for another PS3, then reball is the only option left. I don't know what the life expectancy of a reball fix is, but it just might be worth the €60-80.

Got my 60gb fixed over the summer and they gave a 1 month guarantee, said it would just keep breaking again and again no matter how many times its fixed. My advice is to do what I did, get it fixed and sell it on gumtree or donedeal then use the money you made to buy a new slim. It was ylod btw

I don't he was annoying me for days then couldnt find my house so I had to go find him. Turned out there was 3 of them, all massive and only 1 could speak english so the other two are babbling in arabic and I'm thinking wtf are they saying? "should we kill him now or later?" then he tries to pay me less than we already agreed. Dickhead. Anyway look thats just what I would do but if your moral compass isn't as screwed as mine then don't do it!

in the process of getting a ylod 60gig fixed.

i'm willing to try it out once, and however long i get out of it, i get out of it. i'll buy a new console the next ylod.

in fairness i got off pretty lightly - it seems - with it considering i got my ps3 on irish launch

Is it really that likely that the old non-slim ps3s all eventually succumb to the "YLOD"? I got my 40 gb about a year and a half after they came out and I know a few mates who have them that long as well with no issues. I do know one guy who sent his back alot of times under warranty alright but I thought he was more the exception.
