I was looking through the Irish daily mirror, and it said Rest of Ireland could be Left unprotected because of Queen visiting, and 10,000 gardai and defence forces in dublin.

They said Crooks could go on a rampage across the country, because there will be a lack of garda numbers in other area's, Banks, houses, other places are at threat.

have a look at it yourselves i cant remember what it said exactly.

I was thinking the same thing.

Now would be a great time to commit a crime.

    Balaclava-Check

    Gun-Check

    Dollar sign bag-Check

Now see, there's the problem right there,

Seriously though, yeah, most of the Gardai will be focused on the security operation, but the ones that aren't, if they catch somebody trying to take advatge of the fact that the Gardai are so busy, you can bet that they will come down on them like a tonne of bricks, and the Judges wont take kindly to it either.

Any jumped up nut that would want to commit a crime over her visit will probably be up in Dublin plotting to kill her anyway.

As if anyone would notice they are not around. That's what they do, no?

Maybe we should be allowed to take the law into our own hands during this period. :p

Are there no criminals in other parts of the country?

Or are all shoplifters/pickpockets etc. going to descend on Dublin.

OP, let me let you in on a little secret.

The Oirish Daily Mirror from time to time experiences something known as a 'slow news day'. So in order to counteract this they fabricate and propagate nonsense stories like this.

    Don't worry your little head.

To go to all that effort and only find the bank manager's sandwiches in the vault would be a bit of a let-down.:(

At least you can see the plasma screen tv in your local supplier's window that would look nice in your living room.

Maybe it will be like when St. John Paul III visited back in '73 and miraculously there was no crime?

Be interesting to see if the crims take advantage of this diversion in garda manpower to hit a bank but am sure extra security precautions will be on everybodys mind ....

John Paul was known for his miracles though, including posthumously putting another I behind his name.
