Bobby's talent on the bike was amazing.

Only matched by his love for the sport and the work he put in following his retirement in helping to organize an underage league in Faugheen, near Carrick on Suir in recent years.

He was also the man who came up with the route for next month's Carrick Wheelers Challenge Sportive.

    God Speed, Bobby.

I was on my best day ever in a race in Kildangan years ago and there were a few top names in the break of ten riders that somehow I got across to. One well known rider from Dublin like myself was a bit dismissive as he looked me up and down thinking "what are you doing here?". My headset kept coming loose which annoyed him no end. Bobby Power was in that break and recognising that I hadn't a clue what to do, told me to do the minimum as the break was well away. He won that race by attacking in the last kilo and I being a pretty good galloper came third, he came over a congratulated me straight away. A gesture like that stayed with me and I always looked out for his results after that. RIP Bobby.

I thought I heard that alright somewhere. Will the sportive be called after the man, in his honour ? I never met him but his reputation in the area and nationally was well established.

Memories of those long training spins and the travel to the races in those heedy days of irishcycling with Bobby I will always remember. So proud to have trained and raced with him all those years ago.The midweek training around the Portlaw circuit and in winter the little lights on our bikes as we came up from Waterford to meet you Bobby. And the ultimate dreams of training for the Ras May you rest in peace
