    I love Cork.

But I can see how people might be upset at it being the last FF stronghold.

Why do people hate Cork you ask? Can you define who these 'people' are? Because you've obviously carried out extensive research in order to use the term 'people' so freely?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 4,785 ✭✭✭KungPao

Well, the wine industry would be lost without it.

    Cork is down south, like

The word like at the end of sentences
    - my ma made tea, like
    - i took the dog for a walk, like
    - i went to tesco, like, and there was no ham there, like

Because I'm from Cork and I get it all the time. I dont live there anymore and the old inter county rivalry stuff really bores me, but I just notice that most 'people' (as in imagined) and people (as in real) have somethinfg negative to say. Baffles me. Slightly

as a Dub i love Cork and i love the supposed rivalry we have with Cork, like they could ever win like ;)

but the accent is minging and incomprehensible
and before you get on your high horse, Dublin has some of the worst accents going, especially the extremes of the Northside skanger and the Southside west Brit

It was a big thing back in the 80's to hate 'The Dubs/Jackeens/West Brits/ The pale', if you were from Cork ( Guilty as charged, your Honour).
But I really don't see it/ haven't heard it, in years.
I think we just got over ourselves !

Lol, retards. Cork doesn't even have an event centre ffs. It's a beautiful county but the city is mediocre.

It aint pretty to look at ,the city .However its not bad for food ,nightlife and shopping.I still think Cork has better shopping than a lot of places , it gets some good gigs too.Its kinda dirty as a city ,with some dreadful parts.Theres no way you could compare it to other aesthetically pleasing European places.Of course most cities have their dirty parts but then you can forgive them for their other attributes.
Its got some really good colleges ,Crawford would be considered second in the country for art .UCC would be up there too.It neeeds to be cleaned up though ,big time .

The City Centre looks well now since the regeneration and the influx of foreign folk makes it feel more a bit more like a real city - it's ridiculous to compare it to a European capital though.

What particularly bugs me is that there is no event centre. They put up a marquee in the summer which draws some good acts but we really could be doing with a place like the point (the O2?) maybe with a little less seating - say 4 thousand seater. Killarney has an event centre which holds 3000 so Cork could easily make one profitable imho.
