Your ultimate roster

This lockout has me bored with the lack of NFL goings on, so I came up with a little game that I thought might be a bit of fun. You pick one player/coach from each each to make your ultimate 32-man roster of current players.

Rules are simple, you must pick one player from each team only, you have to pick one of the incoming rookie class and I've added a few extra spots to round it out at 32 in total - 11 and 11 wouldn't have been enough of a challenge.

    Positions are:

    Offense: QB x1, HB x2, FB x1, WR x3, TE x1, OG x2, OT x2, C x1
    Defense: DT x2, DE x2, OLB x2, ILB x2, FS x1, SS x1, CB x3
    Special Teams: K x1, P x1, Returner x 1
Coaches: Head Coach x1, Offensive Coordinator x1, Defensive Coordinator x1

Here's my team, be interested to see what others come up with:

    QB - Manning (Colts)
    HB - Charles (Chiefs)
    HB - Hillis (Browns)
    FB - Graham (Buccaneers)
    WR - C. Johnson (Lions)
    WR - A. Johnson (Texans)
    WR - White (Falcons)
    TE - Cooley (Redskins)
    OG - Nicks (Saints)
    OG - Snee (Giants)
    OT - McNeill (Chargers)
    OT - Long (Dolphins)
    C - Mangold (Jets)

    DT - Dockett (Cardinals)
    DT - Dareus (Bills) (Rookie)
    DE - Cole (Eagles)
    DE - Allen (Vikings)
    OLB - Ware (Cowboys)
    OLB - Matthews (Packers)
    ILB - Willis (49ers)
    ILB - Beason (Panthers)
    FS - Reed (Ravens)
    SS - Polamalu (Steelers)
    CB - Bailey (Broncos)
    CB - Asomoghua (Raiders)
    CB - Finnegan (Titans)

    K - Scobee (Jaguars)
    P - Ryan (Seahawks)

    K/PR - Hester (Bears)

    Coach - Belichick (Patriots)

    Offensive Coordinator - McDaniels (Rams)
    Defensive Coordinator - Zimmer (Bengals)

    P - Ryan (Seahawks)

    K/PR - Cribbs (Browns)

    Coach - Morris (Bucs)

    Offensive Coordinator - McDaniels (Rams)
    Defensive Coordinator - Fewell (Giants)

This is tough, I love it!

It realy looks like I'm copying post 1 but I think most are pretty obvious choices
For example Jon Beason is an excellent linebacker, one the best players on the Panthers

My worst choice is my kicker but I was stuck :o

Same thing happened to me with kicker, I was left with the Jags and Skins and thought Cooley was just that bit better a tight end than Mercedes Lewis, so Scobee went in by default.

Love the Morris pick for coach, he's probably the best choice of anyone from the Bucs. And yeah there's a few teams with one really obvious player, Beason, Willis and Jon Ryan are dead certs to go in, same for Calvin Johnson, though Suh wouldn't be a bad choice either.

Have to say I am happy with my team. Took me a while to figure it out. Kept having duplicate teams all over the shop but the finished product I think is solid. :D Even down to my kickers and Coordinators :D

Gonna have a go at this now. Just trying to figure out whats the most important position to start with. I think its the coach and if I go down the road of picking the best for the most important position then will I run out of good players at some stage? Ugh gonna be difficult.

    DE - Mario Williams (Texans)

Not anymore according to Wade Philips, I put him at OLB

Sorry, you need to redo your picks :pac:

For me the Coach was a tough one. I had Bill at the slot at the start but it caused a ripple affect all the way down my picks especially offensively and my linebackers. I stuck in Sean Payton because you give him that talent that I picked and he would use it right and I was able to get me 1 of the big 4 QBs at QB also. My Coordinators were my left overs but they are alright.

Good shout landsleaving putting up this thread. Really got the noggin thinking.

Be quite you haha NFL.com and the Texans still have him at DE so I will roll with that. I left him out originally because of the OLB thing but fook it 2011 hasnt happened yet so he is still a DE as far as I am concerned :D

I was hoping to get Gates in towards the end, but ran out of decent offensive line players and a few good tight ends were still on the poorer teams. Damn tough choice though

Wow that was difficult and fun at the same time. Another thing we should do is maybe list the first 5 players on your team sheet. In my case they are Gates, Suh, Long, Revis and Hutchinson. The best players on their respective teams just had to pick em.

Agree what made it tough for me was finding a proper FB and wasting up a good teams player finding one hence why I settled on Tolbert and you can't switch safeties like that Reed is a Free Safety, two very different positions really. Sorry Leslie looks like you are going round 3 or editing hahaha :D

Interestingly Tolbert ain't a FB no more. Hester is the only recognised FB on the Chargers roster presently. Hillis can probably play there at a pinch.

Ooooooops defo slip up on Ed Reed, back to drawing board then!!.

Difference with Tolbert though even if they have him down as a HB he played in situations as a FB last season :D

Hillis could defo play as a FB but the Browns have never used him there and probably never will ye know. :D:D

    Manning
    Belichick
    Willis
    Ware
    Charles

Probably Polamalu and Reed next, not sure after that.

Actually Leslie, who's your rookie? You're not gonna have to start again.. again?

I looked it at from the most important positions to start with and for me they were in order.

Head Coach, QB, LT, 2 x DT.

So my first five picks were

    Bill Belichick
    Drew Brees
    Joe Thomas
    Haloti Ngata
    Ndamukong Suh

Sad to see only a few players being mentioned at the Safety positions. Guys like Eric Weddle and Nick Collins are two very under-rated players.

Very true but its down to finding better players at other positions or filling gaps with other guys from the same teams elsewhere.Trickiest part of filling up these teams. I chopped and changed my safeties the most in this. Honestly I would rather a Reed or Weddle or Collins at FS but with no option but to pick outside guys like those 3 Thomas seemed the best fit as I had the Seahawks left.

That's true. When it comes down to teams with less talent on their roster like the Seahawks, you usually end up leaving them till last and then trying to accomdated what talented players they have.

Actually might have another go at this, using a different method.
