1968 western classic currently on TG4 (13/5/11 22:00pm). The music throughout it is sensationally beautiful. I had to lookup IMDB to see who the composer was and of course its the great Ennio Moricone. The most haunting music, it'll be in my head for a while.

This is probably best on the movies board.

Don't bother watching, the picture is terrible (on DTT) and its not in the correct ratio

One of my favourite westerns... the music is indeed hunting and Bronson delivers a fantastic performance

Soft, the print is clearly well worn (note the contrast) and the film was shot in Techniscope (2.35:1) but was screened in "just under" 16:9 ratio (note the narrow black bars each side)

Notice that alot with TnaG, sometimes the film quality is so poor it shouldn't be shown.

As I say it looks perfect on my tele, but the point of this thread is really about a classic movie with beautiful music.

One of the greatest movies ever. Ennio Morricone's music is amazing in this film. The more you watch this film the better it gets. The final scene is unreal.

Fair point but it really pisses me off that TV channels use such degraded prints when there is absolutely no need. I'll wait for it to be shown on Film Four.

    Amazing film.
Buy it on DVD - make sure it is the 2 disk edition.
    http://www.amazon.co.uk/Once-Upon-Special-Collectors-discs/dp/B0000A5BSZ/ref=sr_1_1?s=dvd&ie=UTF8&qid=1305326888&sr=1-1

There is some great extras on the second disk, interviews with actors today and loads of background stuff. Well worth owning.

    Blashphemy!

The correct aspect ratio of the film is 2.35:1 and this is how it was screened. 16:9 my ass, 16:9 is for DVD.
