Just wondering what insurance companies in Ireland cover modified car? I have a standard turbo diesel that I want to chip but will only do it if a can get an insurance company who will cover it.

You're getting it remapped? Ring you insurer and ask, I'd be surprised if they won't cover it. Get a good map from someone reputable though and not a cheap chip

Already did and they won't cover it. Anything that alters the performance of the car invalidates my insurance cover.

As for chip v's remap, I prefer the chip option as it is easy to add and remove and will not shop up on the car's diags. There is definitely alot of cheap and nasty ones out there but also a few good one from what I have read so far.

Ah ok so. Who's your current insurer? Quinn are ok with mods as far as I've seen, I have no idea how much extra it'd be though

Hiberian as far as I can remember. Cheers, I will check Quinn out.

My policy was up for renewal in March and Quinn up'd the price by 200, so I rang every other company but none of them would quote me, I'm 33, 5 years NCB, no points and full licence, driving an Altezza, only mod is a set of coilovers, couldn't believe it, ended up having to stay with quinn

try arachas, rang them with the skyline, havent mentioned mods to them just yet as im not finished tinkering with it for another few weeks but they quoted me straight off on it, and anyone with one will tell you its near impossible to insure a skyline unless your already with a company modified or standard.

what company are you with?? IMO your better off doing it then ringing them to tell them its done, they seem to deal with it better
