    Hey,

First time post on this. I saw this guide (http://www.brian-hoover.com/Navigation/Other%20Projects/Heineken%20Touch%20Lamp.php) on the internet and was interested in doing it but I have one or two questions before I start.

First off I'm having trouble sourcing the Touch Dimmer (screw-in type) in Ireland but I can get them online. They are from American companies so I was worried about the differences in bulb size and current between the US and Ireland. Would it pose any trouble?

I have also found Touch Lamp Repair Kits online but, again, they are only from the US and would using these pose any problems?

Also it would be great if anyone knew where to source these parts in Ireland because it would solve an awful lot of trouble.

    Thanks.

The USA runs on a lower voltage system so they are allowed to have touch control lamps. We run on higher voltage therefore touch control lamps are considered quite dangerous. I am sure an electrician will confirm / deny this.

Ah ok thanks for your reply. I knew we ran on a higher voltage but I didn't think that was a problem re: safety because you can buy touch lamps in Ireland that are deemed safe. Also I was thought that if I used a RCD trip socket protector that the danger would be mitigated although I may be oversimplifying things. Any thoughts?
