right, I'm travelling for 11 nonths, 9 of those in malarious areas (block of 3 months, 2 month break and a 6 month block) was prescribed Doxy as it's 1/5th the cost of Mal and so on.

Anyway, I was wondering if I should buy 11 months here, or buy a few months now and buy more as I go?

I am guessing it will be a lot cheaper in other countries?

    Any tips from anyone?

Give us a clue...where are you going?

If the place has malaria, then it's a poor country and Doxy will be cheap.

I got my Doxycycline from the Medical centre in Changi airport in S'pore.

Doc at the consult graduated from RCSI, chit-chat ensued. If the dispensary is credible, buy them overseas.

Consult & meds cost me very little.

Doxycycline is pretty cheap here anyway. I'd at least buy some of it before you go, just to be prepared like.

Myself and my other half need to get our malaria tablets for our summer holidays and we are buying it under the Drugs Payment Scheme so that only one of us has to pay (we are getting Malorone so one prescription hits the limit of €120).

You don't pay more than €120 in one month for the prescription so why not get all of it here under that scheme?
Ask your chemist to check if there would be any problems.....

Under DPS you can only get 1 month's prescription at a time. So while you might get away with getting your drugs on 1st and 30th of a month under the scheme, you wouldn't get away with getting 9 months worth at once!

Please don't suggest ways of getting around the DPS
