    Folks,
Can anybody post a link to diesel powered car reliability surveys? e.g. JD power surveys etc. but for specific diesel models rather than across general makes. Thanks.

Not aware of a one stop shop. Best to do a search for your particular model and look for owner reviews and magazine reviews where they have run a particular model for a few months to a year.

Otherwise as you mentioned the JD Power survey that you can access through www.whatcar.co.uk is a good general source but read the detail because all may not be as it seems at first glance.

Have you any particular car in mind? There's generally plenty of trouble ahead for modern (common rail, direct injection, manual transmission - DMF, emissions conform - DPF) diesels :)

Honest John is not a bad site for reviews. Although he gets it badly wrong sometimes. I'd be very wary of customer satisfaction / reliability surveys out there...

    Unkel,
You are on the ball...I prefer diesels and have driven diesels for the last 15 years and now own a VRS PD but getting a bit concerned regarding all the issues you mentioned. I was thinking about changing the car and would like something in the 140+ bhp bracket, preferably hatch or estate, capable of carrying 4 adults on roughish roads, A, B or C tax...and to be capable of racking up high mileages reliably without expensive repairs constantly hanging over it...or has the economy of running cars shifted back towards petrols based on 20k per annum for 5 plus years of ownership? I was thinking about CR VRS, higher power Mondeos or perhaps the Honda Accord or old style Legacy. Is it time for mid range German (don't really want to!) All thoughts / opinions appreciated!
