    Hi all,

Myself and my wife were supposed to be going to Cardiff for the big game but can't make it now. Had no hassle selling on the tickets anyway, thats for sure. What we are doing to try and make up for it a little is travelling up to Dublin from Laois for the night and I was wondering where would be the best place to go and watch the game?
Thanks in advance for all suggestions,

    Come on Leinster
    Darren.

Sinnotts, The Baggot Inn, Horse Show House maybe, Kielys, O Donoghues, Doheny and Nesbitts would all be good shouts imo.

A suggestion; maybe have a sticky with all the pubs that would show rugby matches, as these threads tend to crop up from time to time.

Also if you happen to be on the north side The Ivy house in drumcondra is usually good craic :pac:

the OLSC should put up information next week as to what pubs are showing it but the horse shoe house or kielys would be the places I would head to first

Will the RDS be showing it on a big screen again?

If there's a Rugby club close enough to you with a decent size group of members there'll probably be a good atmosphere in the club itself. Would cut out having to come up to Dublin. If you do want to come up to Dublin, the pubs mentioned by Wixfjord are all good places.

No. I emailed them yesterday and they said:

    "Thank you for your email.

Several parties have expressed an interest both in 09, and presently in organising a public screening but so far nothing looks like happening as it doesn’t seem to be commercially viable.

We would advise supporters not travelling to Cardiff who want to watch the match in Public to do so in their local rugby club and we will publish a list of clubs screening the matches and throwing Heineken Cup parties early next week on our website."

Really disappointing. I would have thought they could make money if the opened the RDS or Donnybrook stadium and set up a big screen.

You'd have to assume that the big screen costs a fortune if its not commercially viable. Its disappointing, but I suppose they are thinking that if it rains no-one will go and the pitch would be destroyed.

Have to say I think the Horse Show House is terrible for watching games in. It'll be full of Leinster fans I'm sure but actually finding a decent spot to watch the game is impossible when it's busy.

Have always enjoyed watching the rugby in The Royal Oak in Kilmainham. A bit of a trek out of the city, but worth it in my opinion.

Royal Oak is a nice spot but it is tiny. I reckon Slatterys on Grand Canal St/Bath Avenue would be a good bet

The Woolshed is a good spot, the screens are huge.
