Hi guys, was just looking for some advice. I recently checked my roster in work to find that they had taken me off work for the following two weeks. When I asked about it management replied that I wasn't needed (I work on a part time basis 3 day's a week). I'm terrified of loosing my house needless to say and although i managed to get a loan from my parents to help me out for the two weeks when I'll be off unpaid, I'm a little scared of it happening again. :( I detest asking as I'm quite independent but is there any government system that can help in situations like this?

Check with your contract of employment to see if your employer is permitted to vary your hours of work.

It seems from the information provided that your employer is unilaterally altering the terms and conditions of your employment with the company, this is something that they are not able to do , without your consent. If you provide further info I would be happy to assist.

    Regards

    Richard

If you work 3 days or less a week, you can apply for Job Seekers Benefit, which is usually around 32 per day so u might come out with 90 euro extra. Go to your local SW office and they will tell you what to do. Best of luck!

Definately go see your social welfare officer, thats a disgrace. What kind of contract did you sign? Most part timers will have a contract with a provision for a minimum of 10/15 hours per week.
