You can import outside of the EU. But you MUST have the people shipping reduce the FPS to 328 and the 1 Joule limit, otherwise the guys at customs will destroy it.

So what about if your getting something from within the EU then? Does it still hit customs and will it get hit with any kind of duty?
Also heard a lot about a ban put in place very recently for private buyers importing into ireland, is there such a thing or still safe to import?

Customs are supposed to either check a item or get the paperwork regarding a item for everything that comes into the country, now this may be different to practice and you can have people who can post that they ordered a gun over powered from some country and never had it stopped but thats a different story.
But if a item is flagged that it needs to be checked Customs will check the paperwork and if necessary the item.
Since its ordered within the EU zone there should be no duty to a certain extend *other things involved*
but customs will check stuff otherwise people could order in illegal things without any issues from other EU countries. Example fireworks and explosives.

Cheers, Salaas. Makes complete sense that it would be checked regardless. So once it's under the 1J (or has no spring) your allowed order infrom the EU. What "other things" are involved that could add on to the price if the duty is paid for already within the EU?

The other thing that could be added that I remember is that if Customs look at it and hold it they have a small fee for it.
Infact a order I had is after being stopped by customs and I just had to send them my paypal reciept of the order. So seems that proved the fact. lol

Sweet Salaas, cheers :) Hope you got something nice and the customs don't delay it to much. Well with that in mind I have just gone and ordered myself a spanking new King Arms Tactical carbine FAL from Poland :) And my first AEG to boot, the waiting is going to be painful but worth it.
The lads chronoed it before sending and is only at 320 FPS anyway so under the Joule, that and say it won't go through customs as being shipped with UPS, which I find hard to believe but should get through anyway! Cheers for all the help.

I think I know the site you ordered from, I tend to use it for reference on things I'm looking at.
Well I'm glad its in the country as there was no updates about the delivery so didn't know where it was.

Be careful with some of the courier companies, they may say to you that they bypassed customs and will charge you for it.
What in reality it means is that they have not submitted the documentation to customs letting them know what the hell is being shipped, yet but have delivered the product to you first. There's no advantage to it except you might get your delivery a day or two quicker but thats not worth the charges some companies ask for.

I think the standard extra charge is VAT at 21% so factor that in, then factor in postage and customs, on a 600€ of gear, no AEG's or GBB i got charged 40 euro, split that between all the lads that ordered it wasn't too bad but i'm not sure what it will be with an AEG

Cheers for the heads up mate, I'll expect some kind of charge from the delivery lads for sure, bu it was the shop that said it comes straight to me, haven't been in touch with UPS, well it's shipped now so just a waiting game. With no customs involvemet it'll be here next week.

And 'Target', cheers for the reply, thankfully it's from within europe so the VAT is already paid to the shop and was stated on the site, so is not needed to be paid again when it arrives in, and they gave me a quaote for the shipping before I paid so it's just the customs charges or UPS's "additional charges" that I seem to be looking forward to and have that surprise element! Thanks for the info tho and €40 on a €600 purchase isn't bad but wondering if it's based on price or weight! And as you said if there is a difference if its an AEG. Guess we'll find out soon :)

hmm I'd say weight and general size of package, like 600 worth of gear for 7-8 lads is a big box of stuff, like chirstmas opening it but yeah 40 isn't too bad at all, all in all good day. Good luck, with the import.
