    What sort of power would be needed for a 7 foot disc mower?
    I have a Ford 4610 which is rated at 63HP (http://www.tractordata.com/farm-tractors/000/6/1/612-ford-new-holland-4610.html)
    My local garage man suggested that this is sufficient for a 7 foot marangon or malone, I'm a bit sceptical my little ford would be able for it.

    Our MF168 can work our 8ft vicon disc mower with ease. You should have no problem with your 7ft on the ford!!

    I would be pretty sceptical myself. She is a pretty light tractor for a mower that long. Would be under serious pressure cuttin a meadow i imagine and you would probably only be crawling around it. Probably be fine topping alright. More importantly i would be worried bout the weight. With the cover and all they can be heavy enough. I would be worried bout the tractor turning over when you lift or drop the mower.

    Reilig, I would consider the 168 as being a bigger and stronger tractor and better able for it. But still wouldnt think the MF 168 would be able for an 8ft, fair going. Do you have any bother lifting or lowering it and is it only for topping?

    A MF135 would work our mower. Its really easy to power - even in heavy meadow. Its only a disc mower (no conditioner) - so its very light. Its the conditioner that puts weight into them. We used to have a PZ 165 mower. The 8ft disc mower is much easier to work than the old pz.

    I used a maragon 8' mower on my 4600 when as 7610 was out of action. The 46 was under severe pressure with it, I had to change the tractor after the headlands. I would think a 7' would put it under as much pressure.

    50 Hp is all you need according to their website;

    Maybe on level ground with a light grass crop. When the ground is sloping and the crop is heavy the hp requirement will increase.

    If it doesn't have a conditioner there should be no problem.

    I cut a lot with a PZ and a 4600, it went fine, and could easily take another foot or so.
