day of a race nutrition?

    Triathlon question-if a race starts at 10.00am, what sort of nutritional intake is best day before and day of race? also what time should you get up-very early for brekkie?any help appreciated

    You should generally eat your normal meal 2-3 hours before the event. Depending on the duration of the event you may also have been carbo-loading 48hours beforehand but this is mainly relevant for the longer events. You'll be depending on your training for the event so the nutritional intake on the day before should only be a small element. If you're tapering you should be scaling back your calorie intake during the last week. Drink adequate water and have plenty of carbs in the last few days but minimal fibre or fats on the day of the race.
