HI there it should not be too much longer now for you we were waiting about 13 weeks in total for my husbands as he is JSA with only able to get Casual Employment not for lack of trying to get a full time job!! Its appalling the wait times. I have been waiting 6 months for my Disability Allowance to be granted, applied in November last year thinking I was applying early as my Illness Benefit did not expire until January. Have needed help from St Vincent de Pauls each week just to feed our 2 kids. It really is shocking, the rich and poor divide in our country is unbelievable!

Yes I have been working over the last two months with a Minister of the State he submitted a question to Joan Burton and am just waiting the reply now. If I was able bodied I would work for sure, what I find shocking is that I was called for a medical exam and the doctor apologised for bringing me into the assessment (I use crutches and a leg brace daily to get around), I am obviously disabled I had a folder of documentation (had a stroke at birth) I had to bus from the outskirts of town and my husband had to turn down a days work to get me there, (I know I could have gotten a doctors letter but it was the second time I was called so I decided to put their minds at rest and prove that I have cerebral palsy, I am on the waiting list for corrective bone surgery) I am on daily morphine too to dull the pain it is so bad! To top that off despite the go ahead from the assessment doctor, the deciding officer still sent it to an inspector to assess my medical condition!!??? When the inspector called to my house he did not have the independant medical report there, and told me he was assessing my medical eligibility. Such a shambles I wonder if Ms Burton reads these posts to get an insight into the current state of her department??...Unbelievable! Cant wait for this operation so I can get back into some kind of work, as my brain is fine its just my leg!! Still smiling tho as I am sure there are people waiting just as long as me, but the point is it is unacceptable to be waiting 13 weeks let alone 6 months!!!

While waiting for JSA to be processed you are entitled to go to the Community Welfare Officer at your local Health Office and apply for Supplementary Welfare Allowance to tide you over until your JSA comes through, at which time any SWA payments made to you will be deducted from your backdated JSA payments.
