This one doesnt seem as good a deal as the dell one from Ibood at the weekend. Less ram, smaller HD & screen, 70euro dearer. Cpu is slightly better but not worth the difference i think.

Anyone else agree, I need another laptop but might wait for their next deal.

Mulling this one over too, but there are other differences aside from what you've mentioned. The HD may have less capacity but it is a 7200rpm disk as opposed to the 5400rpm on the Dell; the wireless card on the HP supports Wireless-N as opposed to the Dell one which had support for just B and G.

The battery on the Dell is a 9-cell battery as opposed to the 6-cell battery from HP.

    Decisions, decisions!

The dell is probably shipped from dell themselves given it has collect and return. For that reason I thought people would be OK with the dell one. This is 7 - 10 business days which I can deal with.

Has 802.11n which is why I didn't buy the Dell. Also, it has an LED screen. I think the 6 series pavilions have a dual boot option where you can quick boot into a browser only environment fairly quickly.

Also, I ran a search on elara.ie and misco.ie and couldn't find any i5 pavilions anywhere near these prices.

Does wireless N really make that much of a difference to the average user. Or is more so for future proofing and maybe gaming that you would need it?
HD video streams nicely on normal wifi sure.

Well considering I'm about to sign up for 50meg BB I wouldn't want to be limited to 40meg 802.11g on my wireless network. Also, 802.11n has better range and means a more stable connection where I am using the laptop.

Also I might get a media streamer for the tv so several people could be streaming HD stuff over the wireless.

It is kind of future proofing but it's only a month or 3 away.

Beware! I ordered a Samsung laptop from iBood on 17th Apr, money gone, no delivery and now they saw they don't have the laptops at all so apparently they're going to refund within ten working days of May 20th! I'm just glad I paid with Paypal so I should be able to recoup even if they don't actually carry through with the refund.
